Blue Beetle
I have my ticket purchased. It'll be my first Adepticon and when I decided I was going for Betrayal, I was all set. Now that I read the event rules, I don't think 4 months is enough time to get it all done! Dusktiger
wow! that time schedule is unreal. noon -9pm and no supper breaks? and 2.5 hour matches? when we do tournaments locally, we go 11-6pm with a 45 minute lunch and 10-15 minute breaks between rounds for scoring. course, we can usually play 1750pt games in 90 minutes (except the ork and nid players; but they're always slow, moving large squads 1 model at a time) so that kind of schedule is possible for us. Jim AMM realgenius
This is a more relaxed event, more of beer and pretzels type games, which is why I think there's extra time for the rounds and the late start time. As a comparison, the 40K Championships have four 2.5 hour rounds of 1850 starting at 9 am. With the break and long rounds, I'm sure there will be time for eating. I'm used to 2000 in 2 hours, so I can only imagine there will be extra time for fun and leisurely games. I have my ticket purchased. It'll be my first Adepticon and when I decided I was going for Betrayal, I was all set. Now that I read the event rules, I don't think 4 months is enough time to get it all done! Excellent, I'm all signed up, too. Are you playing Loyalist or Traitor? daveNYC
Ugh, couldn't imagine having to try and wrangle both the BRB and the IA: Betrayal Book at a table. Not exactly psyched that their Appearance scoring is going to be based, at least partially, on the use of Forgeworld models. Tamwulf
I'm not all that sure what this tournament has to do with the Horus Heresy besides making your appearance score based on MKII-MKVI armor. The FOC is based on 6th Ed, not the FOC out of the HH:B. You can't use any of the "cool stuff" from HH:B, so... it's like it'll be a tournament of "Who spent the most money at Forgeworld". :) Just as a side note- and I can't resist the dig at GW- 1500 points is like a 35 point game of Warmachine/Hordes. Setting aside nine hours of playing for a 35 point Steamroller means at least six rounds of gameplay, an hour break, and probably enough time left over for a potential seventh round for a tie-breaker/championship round. You just get so much more gaming time... With all that being said, I'd love to play in this tournament. I love the look of the Horus Heresy, and the rules in effect make sense (no Primarchs/Superheavies). Good luck to all those attending! It is specifically a tournament using the HH FOC and scenarios (although those will probably adapted a little for tournament play). depthcharge12
Sounds like fun. if im off of college ill go with my WE force Hopefully people get a little crazy with their lists as its a fun tourny, unfortunately I see people usually including a medusa, a contemptor, and an apothecary 20 man blob I am guilty of picking a kheresnaught though who could resist? :teehee: on the note of who spent more forgeworld money, im guilty of making an exclusive fw hh army but i noticed that the rules implied the rule of cool and the interview with the TO said that he himself realizes that not everyone can afford fw but looks forward to seeing super customized and kit bashed models and the judging itself for conversions and model basing will probably be owned by those who made their own pre betrayal armies as they spent alot of time making that look. just take a look at some pre heresy home built thousand sons. they look really stunning Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/268082-betrayal-at-adepticon/#findComment-3266843 Share on other sites

I read that as "...will not be using..." sometimes I read a little too fast, and Adepticon likes to change a lot of rules for the tournaments they run. :) The best army category is going to be a tough one to judge. On one hand, you'll have "official" models from Forgeworld, but on the other hand, there will probably be more than a few custom made Heresy armies. How do you judge an army that might have some fantastic conversions, but using the current, more modern Land Raider instead of a Proteus? Anyways... could be a really fun tournament. I'd hope so anyways. :) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/268082-betrayal-at-adepticon/#findComment-3266865 Share on other sites
spu00sed
I don't get the 4th bullet point (No FW models allowed about from as stand in). doesn't that remove a good number of the Betrayal units? depthcharge12
yeah i read that too and thought uhh does this mean we cant use forgeworld models to represent our fw models? i think what they intended was no non-betrayal fw models like sabre platforms and such. things like the spartan and achille and stormeagle are still allowed Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/268082-betrayal-at-adepticon/#findComment-3267007 Share on other sites
Jim AMM realgenius
I thought it was pretty clear; you get any of the Betrayal units, except for Lords of War and Primarchs. Other Imperial Armor units not included in Betrayal aren't allowed. Other Forgeworld books won't be allowed. Specifically, XIII Legion (Ultramarines), XXVIII Chapter: The "Mentor Legion". I had to explain why my Ultras were at Istvaan III, so I'm working up a backstory of them being attached to the Sons of Horus for cross Legion training at the time. I've always loved the Mentors (second to my Ultramarines) so having a way to incorporate both is a kind of geeky-exciting.
