Thus guts sharing my desk with the Contemptor:

Just making one that fits in with my Cataphracts. It's a finecast kit bashed. I'll add a cloak, & a large Viking shield befitting the 40k Thor.

What do y'all think?

Been working on the conversion again since Christmas in retail land is over now.

The chap next to him will be my Wolf Lord. He's going to be built to represent Logan for rules purposes.

Back to the forge!

Great bit of GSing, is it a press mould?

as much as I would love for my greestuff fu to be that good, it's not. Its my first ever attempt with Instant Mold. I think it works well enough in this application. A lifetime supply of pelts!

I'm still working on the Arjac counts as' shield. I'm thinking it needs to be like a kite shield...nice & big.

Nice work, Arjac is one of my favourite SW models (fluff and items included). If the Instand Mold works as well as what you've done there, I might have to have a go myself!

For a shield, just remember that kite shields are associated with more of a Norman invention for horse riders covering their entire side from leg to shoulder. Stick with round, looks better for their overall impression ;)

If you make a nice large round shield this will run with the fluff and style well ;) not sure if Kite Shield will work for Thunder Cav but you can only trial and see :HQ:

Either way very nice model and great work from the instant mold - if you've got time I would love a small TuT on them :D

The image if Arjac in the codex shows him with a honking big shild, much more so than the one the mini is sculpted with. I'm thinking a large round shield with a nice boss in the center. Maybe the failcast one for the boss? I dont know. I'm still working on ideas...

Never quoted myself before, but that idea took root:

The shield is 30mm in diameter. The FC shield is 16mm by comparison. Makes a nifty boss, doesn't it?

Also worked on the axe for my Jarl (Logan Counts as):

It's a combination of the terminator set frost axe, the Thunder Wolves axe, & the TC hammer:

That's my take on how it can be both an axe & a power fist. Do you like?

I think the axe haft is too big unless you are able to bring it across his body and in a two-handed stance, then the sizing would imo be proportionate - atm even for 40k it just looks way too unwieldy - sorry chap...

Very nice work on the Arjac shield haha - it's amazing how much smaller the FC shield is compared to a 'properly' sized one - especially as he's meant to be able to knock other marines off their feet with this thing haha

Good points. That pose would be contingent on finding the right conversion parts. Otherwise, I'm stuck.

Perhaps the Dwarven or Chaos fantasy bits might yield something of value?

The shield is nice, but to be honest.......... I think it will take away from your model altogether. There has to be some balance for the piece as a whole. All in all, great work on your conversions. It's funny because I used the terminator legs myself. Great minds think alike! looking forward to your progress.

Nice conversion aside, I think those who complain about the small shield are missing the point. This shield is meant to double as a ccw and the smaller buckler size helps with mobility and allows him to swing that hammer. I mean, look at the shaft of that hammer...

it's a tad pricey BUT you could look at the Ivanus Enkomi (Minotaurs Chaplain) model from FW - it's pretty much the only one I can find which has the weapon across the chest - you'd need to bulk out the shoulders somewhat as he in PA - however he does have large benefits - his Crozius is easy to chop 'n' change, take the head off, put your axe onto the shaft and clean it up, the PF bit is sorted as he actually has one - hope that helps.

Seeing the size of the shield compared to Arjac himself, I'd suggest shrinking it a bit - maybe if you took off the edge rim, then it would still be larger than the current one and not too large to look useable.
