Need Help! Heldrake Conversion

So today I decided I'd sit down and finally do my Heldrake conversion that I had obtained the parts for weeks ago. I laid out all my parts, and initially things were going well:

But just as I'd found a place and a pose for the wings that would be perfect (which was my big stumbling block that made me procrastinate in the first place), I ran into a new problem with them. Where I want to glue them in offers little to support the weight of these monstrosities. I would really like some help from y'all on how I can get these wings to stand up right, because the pose I have them in right now is pretty much perfect. Pictures follow, the first one shown is being held up off-camera by one of my tools, and the other one is being held up by a piece of sprue while I figure out if the greenstuff can do the job there.

hey Kaika87! LOVE the creativity you put into this conversion... and i have some advice that may prove useful... perhaps obtain some 1mm copper wire from an electrical store then use it to pin in various places the wing to the body... this type of wire is stiff enough to use for pinning but still flexible so you can reposition it easily... in the uk i get the stuff from Maplins... let me know if this helps mate...

keep up the fantastic work and i wish you a very merry Xmas!

peace

I think your best bet is going to be pinning them in place, tacking them on with superglue, and strengthening the bond with GS.

The GS (IMO) would add to the organic feel of what it looks like you're going for, like flesh peeling away from the metal-work.

Or if your GS talents allow, breaking out of said metal.

Either way, I think a pin and GS is what it will all come down to.

I've never actually had to do any pinning before, but I knew it was bound to happen eventually as my coversions became increasingly complex. I managed to get the wings stable with greenstuff, but I'd still feel better with a pin, so I was thinking of fitting a rod to connect arm to wing, disguised as an exposed tendon or something using greenstuff.

Thanks for the tips!

This is an interesting conversion, it's incredibly dynamic and just screams "daemon engine" to me, a lot more than the stock model. Well done!

My only tip about pinning that I can think of through many years of trail and error, is that if the pin and hole don't quite match up, drill one of the holes a bit wider to accommodate the position of the pin, and fill with green stuff or some other putty of your choice.

good luck with the pinning, and get some paint on it!
