Brother Nihm
(if we are talking about the Lee Lightner duo's books) then: Nope, I didn't like them. Their writing style annoyed me greatly and their grasp on the fluff was not to my taste. Ironwulf
The William King novels are a fun read. Some of it doesn't necessarily fit fit the various codex fluff exactly, but they are fun books. Just don't take them too seriously. Hfran Morkai
The Ragnar series has its flaws, such as Ranek being both a Wolf Priest and a Rune Priest across the books. But the ones penned by King are an enjoyable read and a nice bit to add to my Wolf collection. Lord Ragnarok
The first Ragnar book is good to see how a SW is recruited. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/268115-sw-new-series/#findComment-3266376 Share on other sites
Zynk Kaladin
I agree, despite some slight hiccups, the Ragnar series was brilliant and very entertaining. My favorite series so far behind the 1st 3 HH books. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/268115-sw-new-series/#findComment-3266476 Share on other sites

Pavement Artist
are thier any space wolves novels where the space wolves talked like in prospero burns? Well Battle of the Fang by Chris Wraight takes a lot of the developments from Prospero Burns, so if you were a fan of how the wolves were portrayed in there, then you should enjoy the book. The William King series is aimed at a younger audience and therefore the portrayal of the wolves is a bit more cartoonish viking with all the feasting and the brawling, where as more recent literature is showing them in a more serious light. Daddywarcrimes
The William King stuff is also much, much older. William King was also Chambers co-author on the original White Dwarf article about the Wolves back in Rogue Trader so while his portrayal may be cartoony, until Prospero it was the definitive on the Wolves. Also, at that point, everything in 40k was on the silly side. Chris Wraight really seems to have picked up the rhythm of what Abnett did with Prospero, since Runes, Kraken, and Battle of the Fang have all been great reads. I even enjoyed Failure's Reward, creepy as it was. Deathwolf and Twelve Wolves seem to have fallen in line with the Vlka Fenryka rather than the Space Wolves, suggesting that everyone in the Black Library stable has embraced the Legion of "Prospero Burns", if only because of how hugely popular it has been with existing fans of the army. eyeslikethunder
The Ragnar series are fun and light hearted and interesting as they fill in some gaps in the fluff but also have some fluff errors. But are not deep complex high quality books. Basically Like a lot of books of that period. Beef
The original series isn't worth the read. Heresy form a BT, the shame Its always worth a read. Ragnar is the poster boy for SW, possibly the best wolf Lord and potential future Great Wolf, Compare him to his watered down UM equivalent Sicarious, you know where my money would be.
