awfulawful
Greetings, I am expanding my Adeptus Custodes army (currently consists of heavily kitbashed Custodes that I play using GK rules). Recently reviewing the Collected Visions book, I noticed that there were some pictures of Custodes in Terminator armor, and the text noted that the Custodes had access to all the same equipment that the Astartes did. My questions are: 1) What mark of TDA best matches what the Custodes have been depicted using? 2) This is more speculative, but would it be wiser to wait and see if Forge World releases any Custodes models in the next few years? I don't want to wait that long, but I'd hate to get my guys on the table (yes, my armies take years to finish) just in time to see a fancier version hitting the market. Thank you. Olis
To be honest, and having re-acquainted myself with what Custodes Terminators look like, I'd say Cataphractii armour is a good enough shout. In regards to sitting and waiting - firstly, can you bear to wait that long (because I do think it will be years before we see any) and secondly, how much fancier do you expect the Custodes Terminators to be? I suppose, if worst comes to worst and the Cataphractii don't cut it, you could always sell them or repaint them, if you so wished. Russ Brother 92
I would suggest the Cataphractii set, they have the ancient and blunt look that I feel emulates the Custodes - they don't need to chase their foes, they weather any storm, defend their Lord and Emperor and that is enough. I doubt imo. that FW will release rules or models for the Custodes BUT if they do it probably won't be until 2015 if you're lucky as even if they only do 5-6 books (more likely to be 6-10 books, as they're doing 1 per year as far as known) so at earliest you'll be looking at 2018 onwards... Well squad Ascetum and squad Argonus kind of look like cataphractii although the helmets seem decidedly different. Aquila squad looks very different in the upper part of the armour but still based in some form of Cataphractii... So I'd say, if you really want to go ahead now, your best bet is Cataphractii. But Alan Bligh said in one of the promotional films that there will be other non-Space Marine minis... Which can mean a number of things but I'd assume Custodes would be very close to the top of the list. The downside is, we have no idea of the time frame... SillyDreadnought
Any pattern of Terminator armour would be a good match to the Custodes. Maybe newer patterns, like Tartaros and Indomitus over the older ( and slower ) Cataphractii, but ultimately there is no right or wrong answer to this question. Use whatever pattern appeals to you the most. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/268304-custodes-terminators/#findComment-3268345 Share on other sites
