Grimtooth
From Prospero Burns we have an Imperial Army opinion given that making war with the Wolves is pretty undesirable. However, the Wolves are now highly respected by the IG for such actions at Armageddon and others. Any idea when this shift of attitude happened? We know of the actions of Leman Russ in the aforementioned Armageddon incident with the Inquisition, but are their any earlier incidents? Wispy
A lot changes in 1000 years. I would argue the Wolves were always what the Imperium needed them to be. In the beginning, they needed a chapter who could do the dirty work. As the Imperium became more corrupt, they Wolves didn't need to cross the line anymore. This wasn't how the Imperium was supposed to be, and they knew it. They defied the direction the Imperium was heading and became more heroic as a result. stinkenheim
There's a big difference between watching a chapter do anything it can to protect your homeworld and watching them do everything in their power to destroy someone else's. Whilst the acts of valour/brutality they engage in may be similar the outcome goes from the eradication of a culture to the preservation of one. I know which I'd rather see.
