Yosef Hausakluif
Has anyone bought or used their service before? They have a large selection of chapter symbol shoulder pads and they seem from the digital renderings to have a high leve Of detail, but what are they as far as quality goes in reality? Thanks in advance for any replies! Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/268855-custom-minis-by-shape-ways/ Share on other sites
Asmodai78
damn they look really good, a bit pricy though, might be worth it if you were doing a custom made chapter Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/268855-custom-minis-by-shape-ways/#findComment-3275055 Share on other sites
Yosef Hausakluif
Or, if you take what you purchase from them and then make GS'd reproductions of your own. The concern I have is if they really look that good in reality as well as in digital format? Ethnic Minority
Are 3D printers that good yet? Wow. I've seen 3d-printed prototypes put out by big companies like Bandai and their models still show jagged surfaces (from the layering method that the 3d printers use). I didn't think that 3D printers would be able to churn out minute details like faces or trim for 30mm miniatures yet. GhostLegion
ive played around with models and designs from several of the vendors at shapeways and i have to say im impressed with most of them. the quality of the print really is dependant on the medium...there are several variants of plastics used for the printing....but in general it is pretty nice to work with. it is not the same feel or cut/sanding as any resin, resin/combo, or other plastics i have worked with, but it does work pretty well. unfortunately, this particular vendor is new on me. all those pictures are the pre-print renders, but if he is using materials and printers like some of the other vendors there, the product generally turns out very close to that render. some pieces need a bit of sanding/smoothing and other prep-work (i.e. watered down miliput to level the surface if you know what i mean), but most come out ready to work as is. as the op states, if anyone has experience with this particular vendor, I would be interested in a review/comment as well. Yosef Hausakluif
Thanks ghost legion for the heads up on how these type of products are created and what they are generally made of. Now let's see if anyone has used this vendor before and can tell us about the product. sniperhavens
I looked at the chainsword set they have. They had a comparison with IG Chainsword's, theirs are just a little bit smallet and look they may require a little clean up but otherwise a good looking finish.
