Biker WL + allied BA ASM

Has anyone tried this? A fully kitted out Biker Lord with SotB, RA, TH, SS who is attached to an allied BA ASM squad with 2 MGs and Sgt with a PW.

The whole unit has Ld 10, Counterattack, can move 12" a turn, can have HoW attacks when it charges, and is scoring, since ASM are Troops. WL can lead the charge and absorb AP 3 hits (or even worse, due to T5 and SotB) for the squad while the ASM provide him some numbers, two Melta guns, and an alternate Character to eat up challenges if you don't want to waste all of the WLs attacks on a single enemy Sgt.

WL can still beak off and go attack a separate unit if necessary and ASM can continue with their mission or tie up an enemy unit in CC. Overall, I think this is a fairly economical unit for the capability it brings to the Tabletop and can synergize well with the rest of your army, especially if you have a pretty shooty force with lots of LFs.

The WL won't grant CA to the unit, sadly. I thought that this was the case, but if you read the whole entry for counterattack you'll see that only the models with counterattack get the +1 attack.

Even with a SS and SotB, it's risky to allocate lascannon shots to your WL. at approx 250-300 points, with 3 wounds and 1/3 the wounds taken per lascannon shots, you're 9* more survivable than an assault marine. But that assault marine only cost 18 points! So you're actually conceding more points (25+), on average at least, by allocating the shot to your lord. Unless you're sure it's the only wound he's ever going to take, it may not be worth it.

I'm not sure how economical wolf lords really are. Has anyone actually done the math hammer on this one?
