Angrons Diorama base...

Am I correct in thinking any of the four Legions in HH:Betrayal are viable options for the 3 marines on Angrons base? I ask because White is my nemesis, and would rather do Emperors Children or maybe try Sons of Horus. Also, now that I think of it, did Angron also partake in the slaughter of the Dropsite Massacre? Would that mean that Raven Guard, Salamanders, Iron Hands are all also fair game?

Thanks for your help, and feel free to make suggestions for combinations you'd like to see.

Cheers,

Jono

Betrayal =/= Betrayer

One is a novel, the other is the giant tome of HH knowledge that kicks off the series discussed here in this subforum.

So, to Grot... all 4 Legions at Istvaan III had forces in the first wave making any of them open to your diorama choice if you want to base it around that.

Of course the standard caveat of "it's your model, paint it how you want", applies.

Yeah if you want to focus solely on Istvaan III, then it'll be Sons of Horus, World Eaters, Emperor's Children and Death Guard. Additionally if you want to include Istvaan V you could have Raven Guard, Salamanders, Iron Hands as well as Alpha Legion, Word Bearers, Iron Warriors, Night Lords as they could of easily got in his way and Angron doesn't really discriminate on who he kills when the nails burn.

I mean Betrayer, by ADB...

Angron fights at these places against the listed opponents:

Istvaan III, Sons of Horus, World Eaters, Death Guard, Emperor's Children

Istvaan V, Salamanders, Raven Guard, Iron Hands(well, technically also Night Lords, Word Bearers, Alpha Legion and Iron Warriors if they happened to get in his way)

Ultramar, Ultramarines (in Betrayer)

Cheers for all of the quick responses guys, how does everyone feel about having a Iron Warrior under-foot, an Emperors Children falling forward and a Salamander falling backwards?

I know, I know,my model, do as I please, but I would really like to hear your thoughts and opinions.

Cheers,

I think it might be a bit of a stretch to have Marines from four Legions present at one specific point in the battle. Istvaan V was a massive deployment of seven Legions. That kind of manpower takes up a lot of space, and to ensure command cohesion, each Legion would have been assigned an area of responsibility most likely, and then fought as a whole.

But what you're describing will probably look fairly cool, and that's really all that counts. Though do you mean Iron Hands, or Iron Warriors? Might be cooler with an Iron Warrior, since they were nominally on the same side (not that silly concepts like "sides" really matter much to Angron).

He may have been on the same planet, but that doesn't mean he would have come into contact with all the legions present. At Isstvan III he was mainly involved in killing the World Eaters, they were his target and other legions would be if they happened to be in the same place or after he was finished.

On Isstvan V, he would be unikely to come accross the Iron Hands as they were present in much lower numbers and very much focussed on the Emperor's Children. It's specifically noted in Raven's Flight that Angron was heavily involved with the Raven Guard, hunting down Corax and the survivors after the initial massacre.

Personally, I did mine as Salamanders because I use Salamanders as all dead marine parts on my World Eaters - I have some of several different Legions and paried them all up for trophies/corpses.

In my opinion you can set the diorama in any HH battle you want msn-wink.gif .... that means you can paint the dead SM in any Legion color you like...

Not that easily. Right after Istvaan V Angron and Lorgar were deployed in Ultramar. And...

Angron becomes a Daemon Prince after that

However, in Betrayal it is mentioned that the World Eaters had a brief "encounter" with Leman Russ and his sons during the Great Crusade. That means you do still have the option to do a base filled with dead Space Wolves.

That just proves he can paint the dead marine with the colors of other Legions. msn-wink.gif

If you consider Istvaan III, Istvaan V, Ultramar you already have a good number of options... not to mention the alternative: since it's your mini you can set the scene in an alternate universe (like the various alternate heresies here on B&C)

Even though you want to stay "close to official fluff" those three engagements gives you a good number of options.

Just my opinion msn-wink.gif

I think it would be really cool if you did Isstvan V but for the armor do a bunch of different legion colors on the loyalists who had to replace pieces of it in the field.

If you could pull that off and not go overboard on color combinations (gaaah no rainbow marines! XD) it would look pretty sweet and a little fluffy
