For Russ and That Other Guy!

Hi all!

I've been wanting to start a log of my own up on a forum for a long while now, but never had the dedication too! I've finally decided to bite the bullet and start a pre-heresy wolves force after having amassed a large 40k one already, so this was the perfect chance to start a log. Most of the army will be in a mix of Mark 4 and Mark 2 Armours. Mark 2 will mostly be on the heavy support squads/long fangs as I can see older wolves getting attached to the armour that they will have used since day 1.

My independant characters will be wearing the Mark 4 Assault armour (minus the jump packs) as I'm digging the look of that extra armour over the upper torso, it kind of gives it a more "superior prototype" kind of vibe.

This is my Legion Praetor/Wolf Lord (Depending on the codex I am using) I have built, the first mini in the army.

Theres something about him I dont like, but I just cant put my finger on it. It feels like hes too "compact"? As though his arms aren't spread out enough in a heroic stance? I think I am going to change him up quite a bit yet, he's likely going to have him firing a bolt pistol from his right hand and have a sword in his left. Something slightly similar to this:

But the opposite way around. I'll probably remove the pelt from between his legs too, it makes him look too "bunched" up I think. Possibly add some wolfy trinkets hanging from his left knee as well. I also won these guys on ebay earlier this week which shall be getting used as a Legion Tactical Squad or Grey Hunters depending on what Codex I am using at the time as mentioned before.

Some work will need to be done on them when they arrive, the sargeant in particular. His helmet is mk 7 so thats going to be swapped with a helmetless space wolf one, not sure which yet, will have to raid my bitsbox. Also his weapons need changing as they dont fit my army list, will probably give him a standard that can be used as either a legion vexillum, or a wolf standard, depending on which codex ill be using for them at the time, I also need to rip them off those bases. I'm going to be mixing these guys up a bit when I get around to getting the second squad so there's a mixture of armour marks, helmetless wolf heads and various close combat weapons (axes from the Warriors of Chaos) between the two squads.

Sorry for the double post but I had an update to add!

 

I decided to scrap the first praetor and use him for something else.

Here is my second attempt at the Praetor:

I think this one has a much better pose, and I decided to go for the space wolf sword instead of the grey knights falchion to represent his paragon blade.

Don't ask me what he is based on because I personally don't know. My ebay purchase came through today and the whole squad was based this way, it looks like a big clump of sand that has been glued over. All the other guys have been ripped off them but I decided to keep him on one to add a little extra height to him so he stood out.

Pics on that squad and the Long Fangs I built tomorrow as I just can't get good enough lighting to take pictures of more than one mini at a time.
