My first space wolf

Recommended Posts

Right, against the judgment of my wallet, I bought a new army, the Space Wolves. The rules, the sagas, the awesome characters, but primarily the wolves caught my attention.

Of all the units, fluff wise the Lone Wolf is my favourite, so I decided I would start on him. I wanted a awesome rough melee looking character, so here is my WIP. C&Cs appreciated, though probably more criticisms at this stage. =p

First off congratulations on your choice - and this comes from a Dark Angel!

I think you have the correct approach to your army, i.e. being attracted to it not only by the rules but by the background! And yes Lone Wolves was an iconic addition to the most recent Codex that adds tons of character to the Chapter!

Since this is your first SW ever, it seems that you are going for a light-shaded variant, which is cool. A few things I'd done differently:

1. The brown helmet. I think brown is kind of clashing with the SW pallete... I'd go for black or maybe a dark mettalic shade...

2. The light gray of the armour looks a bit "dirty". If you're going for such a light color why don't you try white undercoating - might produce a smoother result.

3. There is (I think) something wrong with the miniature's right hand - it seemes that it is attached lower than it should be - or is it the pic?

Anyway, I look fwd for your project. I'm curious which Great Company will you adopt!

The background is always the best bit, you need to be proud of your army.

with the brown helmet, my original idea was to cover him in brown furs, (at first I thought grey, but wasn't sure it would show up against the armour that well) and so the helmet was to match the furs, showing that he is becoming more like a wolf than a marine with the loss of his pack. I've been unsure about it myself, any ideas for colours that will fit better and show the fur and helmet matching idea?

Yeah I am not happy with the armour, grey knights are so much easier, well I'm not gonna back down now though, plough through. Get better. I'll try the white undercoat.

Looking at the hand I can see what you mean and I am frantically trying to remember if I changed that hand too. ( had to change the other to make the axe one handed) I'll try do something about it soon.

Thanks for the reply though. Hope to update soon. Can't wait to show my ideas for his base. =p

Right haven't managed to address the points above yet, but I tried to throw together the base of my lone wolf and his two wolves, Fyr and Thryr. I thought, well he is trying to kill really big things, and I found most of a khorne greater daemon in my brother's bits box, anyway see what you think.

These are really only just started, so details do have to be addressed, bear that in mind. But anyway feedback appreciated.
