Harakoni Warhawks Tutorial (Work in Progress)

Recommended Posts

It's been awhile since I've written really any kind of tutorial for modeling things for WH40k, but I'll be working on this particular article as time allows. Right now, however, I'll go over the basics and slowly add images in later on.

First off, you're probably wondering how in the world you can accomplish the feel of the Harakoni Warhawks without them looking too much like Cadians. Of course, using Cadians and Green Stuff is certainly an option, but if you're like me, Green stuff is the bane of my existence. So, with that in mind, we'd have to come up with an alternate solution. First off, you're going to need:

Imperial Guard Valkyrie Door Gunner Body

Imperial Guard Valkyrie Pilot/Door Gunner Head

Imperial Guard Cadian Arms and Lasguns

Imperial Guard Vehicle Commander Bits (namely the shoulder pads and a few other assorted bits)

Essentially, the body gives the model the overall feel of someone jumping out of a Valkyrie with a grav-chute strapped to their person. The head, while not super accurate, also gives that kind of aviation feel--warriors more suited to the skies than on the ground. The arms and lasguns are obvious (though if you can find the bits, the lascarbine in the old IG vehicle accessory sprue does quite well. There are also a few Catachan lascarbines that work well too!). Next, those shoulderpads from the various IG vehicle sprues you've probably accumulated by now are attached on top of the already-existing pauldrons of the Cadian arms, giving the model that heavily-armored feel. Strap on a backpack or other similar bits to their backs, and they're ready to go to war.
