Knights templar

Hey guys, I'm thinking of starting a new chapter called the knights templar (after the origonal knights templar).

The idea is an elite vehicle heavy chapter based on a small world, revolving around the ideas of the origonal templar smixed in with a strong devotion to the emperor along with chivalrious life styles.

The colour scheme would be grey (like a red scorpions grey from imperial armour 9), along with white shoulder pads and red crosses.

The majority of the marines will be in dark angels robes and using black templar shoulder pads and iconography, I intend to do a "Ravenwing" army initialy, based around the knightly orders engraved in the knights templar's history, I then hope to expand to a deathwing force to represent the inner circle first company using deathwing knight models to represent warrior monks or priests, and the same models but with swapped out heads and instead of a mace, grey knight power swords, to look like proper knights. I may use other codex's to represent other ideas in the army. But I mainly want the army to be vehicle heavy and fast moving, so land speeders, fliers and also tanks with minimal weaponry (i.e. predators without sponsons), I also intend to do an armoured convoy/speerhead as some point. The majority of the army will lack a large number of marines and will focus more around veterans and vehicles.

I intend to start this army in around a month, hopefully less, and I will post a link to the project when it starts.

Any ideas comments or criticisms (not to harsh), are welcome.

Would be interesting to see, for sure, though it sounds like you plan more of a modelling/army project. Are you meaning to develop an IA along with it? Is the final goal to 'transplant' the Knights Templar into 40k, or are you more aiming for a more subtle theme?

I am intending to write some IA along with it at some point, more so as I build the army. But I want the fluff to be represented by the army, so I don't want to start an army say "hay this is what my army does" and the models don't resemble it at all. I think personally I want a more subtle theme, taking the ideals, and combat styles but having a more 40k-esc feel to the way they live, fight and feel. Trying to stick to the histroy as much as I can but also expanding into a more knight-ish sort of force instead of a religous warband.

The aurora chapter are quite vehicle heavy having "more predators and land raiders than three other space marine chapters combined". Maybe you could take some inspiration from them?

I'll have a look, thanks for the heads up!

The colour scheme sounds a lot like the Fire Angels (minus their red trim) - is there any way you could further differentiate your chapter from them? The problem mainly stems from the inclusion of similar heraldry too, I think.

I wanna do a dark grey colour scheme, I believe the fire angels are move of a silver, I think this along with white shoulder pads should be enough, although you may be right, a different trim colouration might do it, any ideas?

Green goes well with grey (if both colours are of a similar hue) or, if the grey is dark enough, yellow is good for contrast. How do those sound?

Not bad suggestions actually, I'll have a think, I just dont want people to think their dark angels (or in the case of yellow red scorpions). I was thinking about red to match the shoulder symbol, I might go for a codex astartes aproach and have different colours per company, just got to get my background figured out and started first!
