Crazy conversion project, need help to see if it is possible

I have Been looking through the legion list and started thinking about a legion command squad.

They look like they can be useful, but their small size makes them less survivable in a large squad environment.

I then looked at their options and jet bikes.

The image of a praetor and his body guard zooming across the sky is so cool.

However here is my problem.

Veterans and officers wear mark III armour in my list.

How ease will it be to convert, with very basic green stuffing skills, mark III infantry to sit on a jet bike?

To be honest it wouldn't suprise me if they released a mk 3 iron armour sky hunter unit, at some point in the future, i'd probably wait if I were you, you could always cut the legs of the current mk 4 armour at the bit where they join the pelvis and glue mark 3 legs into them then just glue the upper body to this point, but pulling it off would be difficult and messing it up would result in not just non useable jetbikes but also a mark 3 marine pack.

I made a imp jet bike not thet long ago with a normal space marine bike, a jump pack, some spare heavy bolters form a bastion (optional) and a bit of the space marine bike sprue. I will get back to you with some pics

I agree with alex567 in that forgeworld will probably release Mk 3 jet bikers some time in the future, but I seem to remember alot of people having a similar problem towards Mk 3 assault marines too..

Your best bet is to get some normal SM biker legs and Green Stuff them to look like Mk 3 because:

A- They will probably be be simpler to sculpt with GS.

B- They would be cheaper than cutting up FW Mk3 legs for the same purpose.

C- Mistakes happen but with cheap legs you can toss them away and have only a slightly smaller hole in your pocket

Just my tuppence worth..

Jaegar.
