Emperor's Furor
I need to get a vindicator and a whirlwind for my Iron Hands HH army but I was wondering, are the current ones produced by GW ok if I'm staying true to fluff or must I try convert them using the mk II rhino kit or am I over thinking it to much and just use the normal ones either way. Raven Angel
While I think the 40k ones are ok I'd get some of theses and the vindi and whirlwind sprues and convert some up for that extra fluffy look http://www.forgeworld.co.uk/Warhammer-40000/Space_Marines/Space-Marine-Tanks/MKIC-DEIMOS-PATTERN-RHINO.html Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/269463-tanks-for-hh-armies/#findComment-3281931 Share on other sites
Onisuzume
Its an STC vehicle, I doubt there's a way for it to be not suitable. Well, unless its a particular variant that was definitely not around during the heresy. Of course, a lot of variants were around then and subsequently lost before being recovered millenia later. Emperor's Furor
I got some vouchers for christmas about £30 worth so I was going to get a part of my army that's not really needed from FW, problem is it appears just about everything is from there. I suppose I could get one then convert it into the original mk with plasticard? AllHailTheMachine
They should be ok. The demios pattern Rhino is only featured in forgeworlds books as it is the most popular pattern of rhino in use at the time of the heresy. As the imperium rarely invents anything the standard GW rhino hull represents an alternative pattern to the demios that was most likely in use at the time, just nit in the same numbers a.s the demios. Â I'm going to be using standard GW vindicators in my army for just this reason. Though I am quite tempted to convert them a bit adding more rivets for example to make them look a bit.more archaic. Emperor's Furor
I found the original Vindicator on ebay, so I've gone for that, it has the original rhino chassis etc with the guy "waving" lol. DuskRaider
The Rhino that we're used to is actually the Mars Pattern. It would have also been in abundance at the time of the Great Crusade / Horus Heresy, as I'm sure there were other patterns in use as well. Even looking at the products that FW offers, you'll see they sell Pre-Heresy Rhino doors and front armor for the Mk. IIC, so it's fine. You could also make an amalgam of the two as a completely different pattern or field repairs. Elazar The Glorified
There's at least 1 plastic GW Rhino in the Betrayal book so I'm quite happy using them in my army :) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/269463-tanks-for-hh-armies/#findComment-3283562 Share on other sites
Gamanos
I believe I'm somewhat lucky being an IF player. By the time they saw combat at Terra, they'ed raided Mars for the new patterns of armor, both personal and vehicular(Mechanicum). So I would say the BA, WS and IF can get away with it as loyalists using GW's 40k range while the Traitors can probably get away with it too as they received constant new tech in lieu of Horus redirecting it from loyal legions. SillyDreadnought
Go right ahead and use the plastic kits for the more mundane and utilitarian vehicles in your army. Infact, the Land Raider Phobos is the standard plastic kit available. Go for it!
