Legion Breacher Squads

Recommended Posts

The essence of my question is does anyone use legion breacher squads in non city fight and non zone mortalis battles?

I'm starting a space wolf force and would like to use one mainly for aesthetic reasons. The cover of Prospero burns has a marine with axe and round 'viking' shield, so I would like to make a few.of these for my force perhaps modelled to make a shield wall between a few of them. Model wise this look would be relatively cheap to achieve.without needing to get the forgeworld breacher kit using storm shields from the wolf guard/thunderwolf kits or the more rectangular one from the standard space wolf sprue.

I'm thinking a unit of breachers as part of standard force may provide me with a unit capable of tank busting, taking down.bunkers and fortifications as well as being more than capable of holding objectives. Iparticularly like unlike a lot of the standard troops units in the legion list can have a.couple of special weapons in a squad without a whole unit being armed thus.

Breacher squads at range are basically Legion Tacticals with a 6+ invunerable and defensive grenades. But that can take a selection of close range special weapons, including the lovely graviton gun. They also get to reroll failed armour saves against blast and template weapons. So they're quite resilient for a Power Armoured squad. Expensive though, they clock in at around 400 points or more with a transport tank and lots of special wargear.

10 of them in a Phobos and just ram them down the enemy's throat if you take them on the open field.
