my_face
if you really wanted to, could you use fortress grey instead of mourfang brown (for templars) ? company veteran
you can use any colour combo you want..if i was painting black armour i would def use grey as the bottom coat.. just stipple it with a silver or darker grey Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/269665-weathering-vehiclesarmour/#findComment-3289574 Share on other sites
Giarc
if you really wanted to, could you use fortress grey instead of mourfang brown (for templars) ? Thats what I was thinking as well. Use a grey undercoat, or a charcoal might work. This is really a awesome tutorial. Ill have to try this! May I ask, what type of hairspray did you use? Or does any kind work? company veteran
As dark angels green is pretty dark you prob want to go with a warm brown as opposed to a cold brown... maybe tone down the orange stippling too. pedrogzc
Very nice! Definitely I wll try it in my tanks Just a little question In step 8 you said "(at this stage i also blocked in the other colours on the model)" Do you mean sealing with varnish the mini? Do you apply the varnish before or after removing the salt? Thank you! Liath
I wanted to try this technique for years ! Now that I have a land raider to paint, I think I will give it a go. Problem is, I paint Blood Angels, and I can't decide which color I shoud be using for basecoat. I thought about a dark brown, but I'm afraid it doesn't contrast enough with the red. Any suggestions ? company veteran
red could be tricky..grey could work.. or perhaps a dark metal. as for the blocking... i simply meant i painted the rest of the base colours on the model Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/269665-weathering-vehiclesarmour/#findComment-3317328 Share on other sites
pedrogzc
I have tryed it! Here is the result: http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-5uJctAGiSOM/UTE5RaUQOJI/AAAAAAAAAyw/mwxnSAovTHo/s1600/salt_weathering_epic_fail__20130302_020.jpg EPIC FAIL!!! Lessons learned: Size matters!! I should have used fine salt instead. As you suggested, only a few orange with the sponge, I overspongebrushed the model. Also a darker tone of orange (as you used). I'll try again in the same poor model. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/269665-weathering-vehiclesarmour/#findComment-3319808 Share on other sites

Grimm Blade
Very nice tutorial. I am thinking about using this technique for my black GK LR, and possibly my Deathwing terminators. Has anyone tried this technique on troops? Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/269665-weathering-vehiclesarmour/#findComment-3557774 Share on other sites
