matchbox
So i've decided i might rekindle my old army as of 12 years ago. But this time put a bit of back story into them. The basic idea is a Codex chapter with a strong Psychic influence. I'm planning to reuse the old colour scheme which is royal blue with dark Purple trim. but that;s about as far as i managed to get with the idea. I basically would like to know what people think. Any criticism will be helpful. Thanks in advance. Matchbox Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/269688-enchanters/ Share on other sites
Olis
Generally speaking, a chapter with a strong psyker presence needs to be explained well, especially a DIY chapter. Do you have any ideas on how to explain this? Do you know which particular direction it would take or that you want to see? matchbox
This will require some thought i think. Will get back to you on that subject. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/269688-enchanters/#findComment-3284905 Share on other sites
Erasmus of Baal
Strong Psyker presence can be explained a few different ways without raising too many eyebrows. The most Gary Stu option is to be from the 21st Founding and just have Magnus the Red's gene-seed; one of the most believable options is to claim that it just happens on the planet that they're stationed at (and thus draw recruits from) to be the case that there are more psykers in the population; a more middling path would be to use a slight mutation in Sanguinus' gene-seed, as he was probably the loyalist Primarch with the most psychic power. Octavulg
I'd buy Cursed FOunding over "just happened on this planet". PLanets with lots of psykers become targets for the Black Ships. And are probably rotten with mutants and heesy. If you want ridiculous psychic powers, go Cursed Founding. Hell, if you want anything weird, go Cursed Founding. It's so convenient. matchbox
So cursed founding would make more sense. But what about an offshoot from a Traitor Legion, maybe a group which remained loyal and was used for a future geneseed stock? Would that be feasible? Erasmus of Baal
But what about an offshoot from a Traitor Legion, maybe a group which remained loyal and was used for a future geneseed stock? Would that be feasible? Nope. Legions that went traitor slaughtered any of their own members who refused to oppose the Emperor (with a mere handful of exceptions noted in Black Library books). You can use traitor gene-seed, but only by being from the 21st Founding and making the nature of the gene-seed as secret as possible. Octavulg
Group that remained loyal is done occasionally, but it's a high hurdle to leap (and requires that you be secretive). And, of course, the Blood Ravens arguably already do it. I went Cursed Founding, myself. ChaplainMathreyn
Wasn't something fishy going on during the Dark, 13th, Founding, too? Or did they just 'lose the records' for it, which explains the 'Dark' thing... Octavulg
Nobody knows, what with the way they lost all the records for it. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/269688-enchanters/#findComment-3288918 Share on other sites
