Motorbike Mike
Good evening all, I've just finished building my Chapter Master for my vow for the Librarium challenge. My vow was 5x Power Armoured Space Marines and the Chapter Master. I still need to buy and convert the Marines, I'll get to it when I've finished my current commission job (26x Space Wolves). He's for my own Chapter 'The Astro Dogs'. I'll update the small WIP thread I've got for them shortly as theres nothing to look at worth posting right now. He's called Derek Stormdog, he's mostly a kit bash, but with some truescale work. I used Terminator legs, then Green Stuffed the back of them - something I suck at... Then used parts from Space Wolf models I had left over. My chapter use 'dog' iconography so this was perfect. The spear was made from about 5 different weapons, I forget which, sorry. I've just tacked him together for now, he's still very much work in progress, I've got to fix a couple of things before I start painting. Comment, opinions and criticsm is welcomed as always. Thanks, Mike. http://i927.photobucket.com/albums/ad114/Motorbike_Mike/cm4_zps73cc76f0.jpg http://i927.photobucket.com/albums/ad114/Motorbike_Mike/cm3_zps114846e9.jpg http://i927.photobucket.com/albums/ad114/Motorbike_Mike/cm2_zps5f7036bc.jpg http://i927.photobucket.com/albums/ad114/Motorbike_Mike/cm_zps4fe1db33.jpg Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/269800-chapter-master-for-librarium-painting-challenge/ Share on other sites
Llagos_Tyrant
He looks good, and it's definitely a nice conversion - but something seems off that I can't put my finger on. Sorry that I can't offer something more constructive. Hopefully someone else will be able to articulate what I mean. The one thing I can offer is that I don't think you need the third, additional vent on the backpack. It looks a bit out of place. Lepaca
I really like his helmet! But I don't like the additional backpack vent either... also his pose is kinda awkward. company veteran
I really like the look and pose of this model.. but i think the plasma pistol hand is way too small for the termi wrist. irwit
Where did you get the chains from? I struggle to find them at the right scale Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/269800-chapter-master-for-librarium-painting-challenge/#findComment-3287301 Share on other sites
Grotsmasha
Really nice, I like it a lot. For me, its the double belt that's out of place. I'd try dropping the wolf buckle down to the legs and green-stuffing tubing onto the midrif. Motorbike Mike
Good morning brothers, Thank you very much for the feedback, I've taken it all into advisement. I'll clarify a few things for you now, the wolf buckle was meant to simulate a tiny 'podge'. I read the Space Wolf saga a little while ago and one of the charachters 'Haegr' was brilliant, he was enormous and had a huge gut. I know this isn't the norm for space marines, but I thought it would add so much more charachter to him. The chains was from a necklace my girlfriend bought me, she got me a 'one ring' for my 22nd birthday. Its 9ct gold and is really heavy, it was supposed to go on that piddly chain. I do a fair bit of sport so it didn't last 5 minutes. Rather than throw it away, I put it into use on some of my models. The chapter master has a 9ct gold chain, maybe I should have called him Mr. T. Dog. I've been away and fiddled with him since you guys posted and this is what I've got now. I want to use Space Wolf rules for this chapter and he's going to be my counts as Logan Grimnar, so I've ditched the Plasma Pistol for a hefty Storm Bolter from a Rhino. For more info on my Chapter and this model, check out my work in progress thread. http://www.bolterandchainsword.com/index.php?showtopic=269892&st=0&p=3287890&&do=findComment&comment=3287890 http://i927.photobucket.com/albums/ad114/Motorbike_Mike/DSCF0421_zpscbfab4ce.jpg Thanks, Mike.
