Reichfaust
Another thing to consider, Azash; the AP2 of the Icarus Lascannon means you will explode a flyer on a 5+, and immobilize it on a 4. :) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/269814-taking-down-fliers-without-a-flier-of-your-own/page/2/#findComment-3295275 Share on other sites
PaganLinuxGeek
True true the +1 on damage rolls helps. Stepping back. Why can't the Icarus on FoR be targeted? The Icarus on a bastion or aegis line can be. Now to build an army list incorporating the FoR... Azash
Why can't the Icarus on FoR be targeted? The Icarus on a bastion or aegis line can be. They are actually a different type of weapon. See the description for the weapons in the rule book on the Bastion. The four heavy bolters are "emplaced" while the Icarus is a "gun emplacement". If you note the rules for the FoR it has an "emplaced missile silo" and an "emplaced Twin-linked Icarus lascannon". Once you find the right pages (96, 105, 116, and 117) the difference between "gun emplacements" and "emplaced guns" and which is which on fortifications is pretty straight forward. SRB PG 96 "Emplaced Weapons" "Many buildings have built-in weapons." It goes on further to say that they can be fired in manual mode only if the building is occupied if is not occupied then they can be fired in automatic mode at BS2. Essentially this establishes that emplaced weapons are part of the building if it is part of the building it can not be specifically targeted no more than you can specifically target the D-Cannon on a vindicator without targeting the vindicator. Where-as the rules listed below specifically spell out that a Gun Emplacement can be targeted separately and give it a stat line. SRB PG 105 "Gun Emplacement" "The gun emplacement can be shot at and attacked in close combat. It is hit automatically in close combat and has the following profile...". WELL This is good news. Especially since I just finished scratchbuilding my FoR... ;-) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/269814-taking-down-fliers-without-a-flier-of-your-own/page/2/#findComment-3296038 Share on other sites
