Phoenix Guard

I'm contemplating starting a chapter of my own, I'd like to go with a Grecian feel crested helms, round shields for hq's etc, I've always found the name and origin of diy chapters the most difficult part of the project and hence quit more often then continued.

My latest idea will require very little in the way of explaining or penmanship, I'm going with the name Phoenix Guard, they have obvious but completely unconfirmed name and visual links to the Emperor's Children and they were created during the 13th founding were no records exist from who were created or from what geneseed was used.

Is this sounding feasible enough? Is there anything you guys can ad or pick apart?

I appreciate any feed back, thanks guys

I don't see too many problems. My marines are loyalist traitors is one of those things which is often overdone and it can make some people roll their eyes and say 'oh no, not this again!'

Personally my DIY chapter might very well be word bearers. I however have not mentioned that anywhere in their background, so they might not be. They are just a chapter of unknown origin that is highly zealous when it comes to preaching in the name of the Emperor.

I personally wouldn't mention that they have unconfirmed links with the the Emperor's Children (and I don't know if that is what you meant anyway), but write it in such a way that people make their own conclusions. In the end it is your hobby! Do what you want.

I would like to suggest the banner in the plastic High Elf Prince and Noble set... If you need a chapter banner for a command squad :D

They would have more then just the visual links. In Fulgrim by Graham McNeill the Phoenix Guard were Fulgrim's elite body guard twice wiped out.

I would be interested to see how you do the Grecian theme; sounds interesting and different from the reappearing Roman theme.

Thanks Hellios,

As you say the traitor geneseed does get around a bit lol, their name being originally use for Fulgrims bodyguard, the high numbers of marines with white hair and the use of purple as a secondary colour on their armour will be the only connection to their lineage, as far as all imperial records and the current members of the chapter are concerned their gene sire is unknown, lost with the other 13th founding records. Who knows were they're from? ;)

Definitely gonna pillage the high elf bits, good call :)

I'll look through my bits bin. I think I might have the one he's referring too.

In regards to their sire, I thought AdMech could do tests to determine the original chapter in which it came from? Though I could be mistaken my lore in regards to AdMech is rusty. :-P

Awesome thanks dude I'll check them out, I work in a hobby centre and I'm sure there's some high elf banners in the bits box but thanks very much though, think the admech could probably verify their geneseed but I'm sure I could find a reason they don't trust the admech
