Hey all,

I have recently been moving and found my old 40k Sisters of Battle Army, and since I havnt played since mid 2004 I decided that it's a hobby I enjoyed and missed, So I have read the new6th Ed rules and gotten a copy of the new WD codex,

There has been alto of changes and many I can see that will work well for our sisters maybe that I feel we have been over looked(nothing's changed in the last 10 years)

Still no sisters in GW shops :-( and still no plastics or new models .... :-(

So below is a list of what Models i have and how I would use them, my question is once I've gotten my head around the new rules and missions will my army be competive:

Welcome back to the Priory!, As Miko says, That looks like a solid start. I'd add a few Simularcum, taste varies on how many and where, but at least one in the Retributors is a consensus view. I add them to everything, many say dont add them to Battle sisters. Personally I don't take that many Rhino's. I go for a Static Block of large units of Sisters of Battle sat on, or near to, objectives, and distract the opposition with a steel tip of Dominions with Repentia following on behind.

Holy Throne, Harris, you read my mind! I hadn't even posted and you're quoting me! :P

Not that I disagree with Mince, heh. Personally I would cut the Battle Sister squads down in size a little and bring the Dominion and Retributor squads up to 10-strong each. Retris and Domis are the same cost and have a better Act of Faith once you've paid the Dominion Premium (The base squad is more expensive per sister, but extra Dominions are still 13 points, unless my memory is going). Four squads of Battle Sisters isn't stupid once you've filled the rest of the force organisation slots, but having such big squads isn't the best way to economise models, especially since you can take those Immolators as part of the Battle Sister squads even though they can't fit in them. Dominions aren't forced to take transports any more, but they do benefit from them if they Outflank onto the wrong side of the board, heh.

Thank you for your speedy replys, was hoping miko would post, been reading alot of your posts on here, great SoB knowledge.

What so just have 10 strong battle sisters ? or lower ?? I was thinking of the over watch rules, rapid fire and a 20 strong sister sqaud would hold an objective.

20-strong units of Sisters are a powerful defensive unit, true, and I did enjoy letting them dissolve a squad of Nurgle Terminators led by Typhus the other week, but in general terms you want flexibility.

Putting it another way, the 20-strong unit gives to a lot of Overwatch attacks, but in your turn you can always fire two squads at the same target to get the same effect, and if the first squad wipes out the target, you can then use the second squad to kill something else.

Sisters squads can only go down to 10 though. ;) So not 'lower', no.

The other option would be to sacrifice one of the 10-strong squads to the cause. If you divide Squad 4 between a Dominion squad and the Retributors, you could have a full squad of 10 Dominions with 4 Meltaguns, then five rending bolters in the Retributors as well - and trust me, there WILL be something in range of those Retribolters by the end of the game unless you play all-out aggression and leave them behind for some reason. Yes, you'll have a Sister Superior left over, but that's not really a huge problem.

If I buy one, it's usually for them. Either they'll be back-fielders (HB) and therefore liable to keep it long enough for it to be important, or they'll be a massive points investment (HF) and I'll want to do everything I can to guarantee that they do what I payed for. I've been using it more and more frequently, but for a long time I didn't bother with any Simulacra, using extra bullets elsewhere and that never really came round to bite me.

Never done this but I guess mounted and against orks or nits this would be great, I've ome to find that people at my local shop and club play tau, nercons,cSM,SM,IG, and one or two NID armies

I'm sorta hope that the CSM guys have hords of cults

Nah, against 'nids and Orks I find that Flamer-Dominions are sufficient.

The Heavy Flamer retributors are for taking down things with T5 odd like Hive Guard... and with Rending, even Nurgle Terminators fall with ease.

I do wish I could give Retributors regular flamers though.

Flamers and h.flamers are great against orks or nids, rending h.flamers eat anything that has T and not AV.

EDIT: I mean anything in groups. flamers don't get that many hits on single targets like MC

this group really is amazing. i just started building my first sisters force up from nothing about 6 months ago, and there are some very helpful, friendly, knowledgeable people here for sure :D

i've gotten a few small games under my belt with the ladies, and it does tend to come down to personal taste. my biggest question i still have is how to load out my base squads, i'm playing with a handful of options now. 10 is my magic number, they fit in transports and you can get a nice ratio of special weapons with multiple squads of 10.

my personal choice is to not get power weapon happy with the superiors. they're s,t,i 3 so they stand a fair chance of getting killed in combat against meqs. my general tactic of trying to avoid combat as much as possible with this army has lead me to use plasma pistols on them instead. it's more ranged punch, which is where the strength really lies, anyway. i DO have a power sword on my seraphim superior, tho, and repentia are always fun, and huge shooty-thing magnets regardless of what the enemy is fielding.

seems pretty solid so far, and the sheer amount of flame in that army list will terrify hordes. good luck :D

derpasaurus yeah i have to agree had a lot of replies on topics and I've been stalking the forum for a few weeks :-) spent today stripping models to repaint and also getting mad after seeing Harris Quantum Gothic armoured walls as ADL and not being able to purchase one :-(

Don't worry, I'll probably get less helpful and stalkerish once I manage to find employment again. ><

The frustrating thing? Even though I have so much 'free' time right now, I'm still not painting anything.

I don't normally put power weapons on Superiors either except in really small games where a unit is too expensive and I've run out of other upgrades. Then they start getting mauls and swords, because they're already on the models.

Good core to start with, now you just need to play and develop your style.

Thanks you & I hope so :-)
