Drahazar
I know to get some from rare earth but what size do I need for space marine arms and is there magnetic paint for the shoulder pads so I can swap them to the different arms? CovertToaster
For space marine arms you only want them a couple of millimeters across and you put one in the body and one in the arm so you have to mark one end so you know which way around to orientate them. Really frustrating if you stick them in and then have to pry one back out when the same poles repel each other. maverike_prime
if you look at my project log for my Blood Ravens I talk about the magnets and sizes I used in them. it's linked in my signature below. Grotsmasha
For putting into the wrists, I use 2mmx1mm, for powerpacks 3mmx1mm. When placing the magnets I've found the easiest way to not screw up the polarisation it to have a "guide" piece. I glue the relevent magnet/s into the guide piece, then drill the holes for all of the other pieces. I then attach a 2nd magnet to my guide piece, add a drop of glue, then push the 2nd magnet into the appropriate hole. Typically my guide piece is a weapon. Once I've put all of the magnets into the marines using the guide piece, I swap, and using a marine, put the rest of the magnets into the rest of the weapons. Cheers, Jono I've seen some "liquid magnets" from time to time. Everything I ever saw about it lead me to believe it has the attraction power of a weak refrigerator magnet. Not enough to hold a model together. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/270145-magnets/#findComment-3291468 Share on other sites

Urauloth
I have a friend who uses magnetic paint on her dark eldar (magnet in the torso and paint on the arm, I believe) and they hold together just fine, but DE arms are spindly little things and I've no idea if it would work with SM components. As for size, I use 3x1.5mm for SM arms because I like a really strong bond, but if you're not too worried about that 2mm would probably work fine. The grade is just as important as the size, tbqh. You don't want anything below n40, and I highly, highly recommend going out of your way to get hold of n50 if you can. Father Mapple
The fractions are for inches. There's 25.4mm in an inch. This is an American company, I think, so that's why they use the Imperial measurement system.
