Multi Melta or Plasma Can on servitors

So I am going to be using GK allies for a Ad-Mech explorator force. My inquisitor warband is looking something like:

2x jok

3x warriors w/ plasma guns/ nades/ power armor

3x servitors

and either 2x pyschers or assassins.

Though I am debating if the servitors should have plasma cans or m.meltas. I am in the understanding that taking m.meltas could a more viable option because they can take down flyers and tanks a lot easier than a plasma can.

Also the meltas seem a bit fluffy in the idea that in the field they will probably be cutting through various materials for that hottech.

Well any suggestions are welcome, as I would like my army to be decent on the battle field.

Thanks again,

Well, MM servitors will not be able to down flyers. They only hit with snap shots to begin with, and will also rarely be in double-dice melta range if only because flyers are on those tallish flight stands.

Of course, you can't even target flyers with plasma cannons.

Which brings us to the obvious: servitors are only intended to combat ground units. They really aren't any good at tackling flyers. You'll require other tools to defend against flyers.

Plasma cannons, every day of the week. I cannot explain in words how clutch they are. Every game, even if they die, they wipe out so much infantry. It is just insane.

For anti-Flyer, look to PsyDreads, Allied Vendettas and Contemptor Mortis. The Icarus (quad gun < PsyDread) is also a good option.

I'd probably go with plasma cannons too. Even if you miss your target there's a chance you'll hit something. And hit it hard.

The downside is the cost. I don't know about GK ones but IG servitors with plasma cannons are expensive.

p-cannon servitors aren't very expensive at all, at least imo. i've had crazy good success with the p-cannons in a squad joined by coteaz rocking prescience and another power (hopefully ignores cover saves!) for serious shenanigans. add in 2 jakaero and they'll be rending by the end of the game with a 3+ save and a 5+ invul to protect against daemon flamer and heldrake attacks. my standard coteaz joined unit is:

7 bolter acolytes

3 p-cannon servitors

2 jakaero

I usually sit them in an aegis line with a quad-gun, letting coteaz shoot the quad gun at targets of opportunity (flyers are priority).

Well Plasma cannons is sadly the most effective option. The setting of the other members in the unit is usually oriented around anti-infantry.

Coupled with an inquisitor who might have divination powers (re-roll to hit if you dont get the power you want) is really great for plasma cannons.

The inquisitor can also buy servo-skulls, thus reducing the scatter for blasts at key locations.

The two times I have used my henchmen units with plasma cannon servitors, they have totally blasted away enemy units. They have been so successfull that my opponent has turned his major hard hitting guns at them, leaving the rest of my fore fairly safe to advance.

How it have turned out, is that the servitor unit usually lives 3 turns, after that they are pretty much dead. But during this time, they have caused so much damage my opponent usually curses them, as the rest of my advancing army finnishes of the remains.
