HellChyld
so some of you will remember me for the Aegyptus Astartes project I helped develope. I've been running nightlords mostly since I stepped away from that project due to the army going out in a ball of fire. recently I helped several friends get into the game using their own DIY's have thought why not give it a ago again. couple problems I'm hitting maybe you can help me get past? the current army I'm working up has some fluff written already but I know in the past members frown on unknown foundings/lost to the warp records and such but the forces fluff shows while loyalist they aren't your normal fleetbased chapter. some could easily think them renegades or chaos. should I write the IA for the chapter before events turned them on their current path? Offical records would record the chapter lost to the warp and a black candle lit for the chapter. what elements of the stand IA would still be valid. I'm working the chapter sorta like LotD or soul drinkers after being tainted by Chaos but still loyal to the Imperium. any suggestions on this would be great. guess I should write fluff first then try doing this but hey thats part of the challenge right? anyway thanks in advance. soon as I get the fluff spell checked I'll post it up here to along with development notes to see if it helps with suggestions. Thanks in advance HellChyld aka Nephren-ka Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/270170-a-return-to-diy/ Share on other sites
Olis
Hmm. Well, perhaps you could do an IA each for the pre- and post-event state of the chapter? Maybe that would solve things in regards to what to include for them. As for unknown foundings/lost in the warp cliches - I personally don't have a problem with the concepts as long as they are written well and have good cause and effects to the IA itself rather than have them chucked in because it sounds cool. When it comes to lost loyal astartes, I'm personally partial to the Blood Knights route of narrative - they've been excommunicated yet still fight for the Imperium. That sort of direction would be nice, I think, for the renegade version of the chapter. HellChyld
Olis I agree. the chapter being recorded as all hands lost wouldnt be excommunicated by the imperium per say but by their own surving members. I started putting the notes together for pre and post IA;s would it be best? maybe the standard format for the pre and the tratoris format for the post? Messor
Sounds like a lot of work, but it'd certainly be worth it to see it all in the end. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/270170-a-return-to-diy/#findComment-3306845 Share on other sites
Aqui
Perhaps take a cue from the Dornian Heresy, and just have one article that follows the Chapter from start to finish? May take longer, but it would at least show the Chapter's full history. Olis
Reasonable idea, Aquilanus. An article styled similarly to either the Dornian Heresy or the Legio Imprint might allow for a slightly wider scope of information on your chapter, Hellchyld, but it would require an extra something that regular IA's arguably do not. HellChyld
That makes sense. I'll look at the dorn IA's and the legio and see if I can get a running format to post up then start breaking down the sections so I can get this rolling. thanks for the help guys Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/270170-a-return-to-diy/#findComment-3307442 Share on other sites
