WiP Ultramarines Rhino/Razorback

GLD

Recommended Posts

Greetings!

Here's the latest project that I'm working on, a Rhino/Razorback from the Ultramarines chapter. I've made it out of bits and pieces lying around, and have thrown on some extra armour from forgeworld as well as made both a storm bolter/plain turret option.

The turret has a twin linked plasma gun and lascannon, which I created following this tutorial here

All that is left is the weathering and the lamps, and this baby will be all done. It's my first Ultramarine anything really, so the blue was a bit of a test, as I don't really like the ultramarine colour itself. In the end, I went with a black undercoat, a base of Imperial Blue, a mid tone of Magic blue and a highlight of ice blue (all Vallejo Game Colour).

The blue was a bit bright so I misted it with more imperial blue to bring it back a bit.

I think it's quite vivid, and can't wait to finish it!

Good work. There's not enough Ultramarines on this forum, nice to see more. I notice you've combined the plasma guns into one weapon (dunno whether that's by sticking the barrels onto something else or by putting a cowling over the top) which is, imo, a lot better looking than just having two plasma guns glued together.

Thanks - the plasma guns are attached onto an assault cannon part, which is attached to the lascannon part - I like how it looks, the tutorial I linked too has all the info

Thanks Rammell - I'll put some together tomorrow for you!

Here's a quick update - just made some paint chipping with a sponge - quick and nasty, but effective smile.png

Thank you very much.

The chipping works very well. The Rhino looks even better now.

That's quite fantastic.

I'd like to see some closeups of the interior. From what I can see in the picture, it looks really good, and I'd like to see more.

Seconded, I'd love to have a look inside. I can see the Aquila that you've done on the right hand wall, but i'd like to see the rest - always on the lookout for when I make a start on my Deimos Razorback.

Here we go - some internal shots:

Hope you like them - just for info, I left the top and right hand side off the rhino, and undercoated all of the various pieces with Vallejo polyurethane German red primer. I then used Model Air Sand, leaving some of the primer in the shadows. I doused everything with satin varnish, then ran some seraphim sepia into the recesses. I painted up the screens and will use gloss varnish on them once the rest is done. I added the decals, then weathered it with the old sponge and charadon granite trick.

I then assembled the whole thing, and placed some masking tape running along the open roof area.

Next up is some oil weathering for rust, then powders and then hopefully done :)
