They just seem a little bland to me. I was thinking of doing some scriptwork and devotional text on the armour plates. What are peoples thoughts about that?

Cheers AB

Script work and devotional text might be good. Other options are squad and company markings for a little more variety to the colour scheme. Personal heraldry might also be an option if you wanted to really go to town. Overall I think they're good though. Obviously you don't want them to be too brightly coloured, they are supposed to be Dark Angels, after all! ;)

It's not shown in the picture but they have squad markings in the form of a red skull on the shoulder pad (MK8) and a red DA symbol on the Knee. Company Symbols will be added when I have decided which Company I'm actually doing! :-P

I'm wondering If its the MK2/3 guy thats the problem. I might repaint his face mask metal, there just seems to be too much Green on him

The MK2/3 is the forge world one to the right of the banner bearer right? If so then I don't think you should worry about the but concentrate on the torso as its quite a big plain area. Your freehand seems excellent so why not try and paint a simple chapter badge or Aquila onto it and I think that would help break up the green. I always think my tactical marine look to green, but once I put the decals on the big empty space that is a marine shoulder pad it makes a world of difference!

On the MK2/3 marine, I think it's the combination of both the plain torso and the bulk of the MK3 helm. Like you said, there's too much green on him. Personally I'd go with a metallic face mask/grill to begin with (as it would also be a visual link to the MK8 marine) and then see whether you need to add anything to the chest plate as well.

Excellent work though. I'm a big fan of your Pre-Heresy DA so looking forward to seeing this army develop smile.png

Hey man I think you need to do the face grill a metallic, start with that and see if you need more. My guess is you probably won't. If you do however I think a nice white or red dark angels winged sword on his chest plate is in store. It's a nice flat canvas to do it in and would contours the MKIII chest nicely.

Great work as usual! Great to see the group together! I personally am a fan of the 4th company and feel it and the 9th reserve company's markings stand out much better on the boys in green. The 5th could work as well.

Beautiful work there Angels Blade, 1 question for you, how are you painting the green? It looks suberb

Thanks very much, it's nothing special, Army Painter Green spray, washed with nuln oil, Warpstone glow edge highlighting with a top highlight of Moot Green. It was a bit of a play with the new GW paints but I liked it!

They look superb together.

Ben, is it possible for you to make a tutorial for your standard? The way you made it is amazing, really.

I plan to make all of the sacred standards so when I do the next one I'll try to do a step by step

Anyway, a bit of a photo update, a few extra details on the command squad to make them pop a bit more I hope it improves it

I also replaced the arm on the Dreadnought, quick swap but works fine.

Here is a better shot of the normal Tactical marines ( no company/ squad markings yet)

And finally I've made a start on the replacement Sarge for Squad 1!

All in all a very productive night!

Those look freaken fantastic Ben!

I'd say judging by the weapon loadout they are going to hide somewhere and buff other units and not go looking for their own fight msn-wink.gif

Might be... Ha the main army is ravenwing so I need a strong firebase to protect home objectives etc
