Arjac anvil

The recent discussions have me thinking about using arjac in the DP with 4 WG in TDA, power weapon, combi-plas say.. A few questions if I may:

 

1) Is one pod going to last long enough? My hammer would be lord/twc or some hard hitting unit from BA allies..

 

2) Would dropping one TDA and having a power armour wolf guard and a wolf priest be too many eggs in one basket

 

3) Is the one storm shield enough..

 

Im guessing the answer to all will be it depends.. The rest of the list is generally grey hunters in pods to take midfield positions with missile fangs and rune priest at the back with aegis defence line.. TWC and land speeders are also preferred options..

 

BA allies mainly assault troops as I like the idea with sang priests for some fast moving FNP objective holders.

 

There are some interesting combinations at 1750/2000 points but the question really is about the anvil and how many points is sensible over how many pods.

I prefer to drop minimum 2 to create more targets...

If you have GH: drop one close to arjac, to shoot againts special weapons

 

In the drop of Arjac: put a heavy flamer (cheap !)

Or:

 Arjac, 1 TDA H.flamer,/SS 1 TDA, 4 WG PA / storm bolter: so 10 shots à 24 inches + flamer + foehammer (6)

Thanks I was thinking today about the humble storm bolter will have a fiddle with the list.

 

My conclusion for my pure wolf list was always drop at least two pods, my concern with dropping just one target is that it will need to soak up a lot of firepower before a charge..

 

I have mainly been looking against gunline or mech deployments I am not sure any of my lists would work against a similar drop pod focussed army but that is more a question of deployment rather than the list :)
