Forge World shipping mistake - what to do?!

So I ordered a couple of weathering pots from Forge World last week (~£5). The box turns up yesterday...and I'm the lucky recipient of some JUSTAERIN TERMINATORS and CATAPHRACTII POWER AXE SET, total value ~£47. The shipping form is all correct, it just seems that they packed the wrong items in my box.

As far as I can see I have 3 options:

1 - phone Forge World, explain the mistake and ship them back.

2 - convert them up as Wolf Guard (not sure how suited they are?)

3 - sell them on eBay and buy something more wolfy

I'm torn - any suggestions folks?

The ethical thing to do - call FW and explain the mistake. It's likely that they will just tell you "Sorry, mate, keep the minis and we'll send you the waethering pots right up!". Otherwise, keeping them without their consent is plain wrong, especially since the value of what you got is 10x higher AND there's a poor guy somewhere out there with a five pound set of pots instead of his beautiful terminators.

Let them know, provide them with all the data about your shipment (parcel number, invoice number, etc.), so that they can locate the other guy and fix his shipment too. Obviously, ask what you're supposed to do with the termies and weapons, should you keep them or will they be picking them up and what about your pots.

I had the same thing happen to me, although not with such an extreme price difference.  They did precisely what Kastor Krieg said.  They said,  "Sorry, our mistake.  Keep the extra minis and we'll send you the correct ones."

Just call it in.  You'll likely get to keep what they sent you, and even if you have to send them back at least you won't be doing anything unethical.

Chances are the guy who gets your pots will be calling straight up, so they'll know where the mini's went. Also you're missing out on the weathering set you obviously wanted.

Call in to tell them, my money is on you get to keep them anyway as their customer service is like that. you think of the hassle they've got getting it back, as you're within your rights to get them to refund your postage. Or they could just say keep the model ( casting cost is cheap, it's the design/mould production that's high) and that's a very happy customer who'll most likely return again.

I've had poorly cast models from them, called up and there's a new set in the post before I could even ask if they wanted proof (which they didn't) An unscruplous person could ask for replacements on stuff that's fine just to get double the amount really.

So in my roundabout way, do the right thing, chances are you'll be rewarded for it anyway, and you'll have a clear mind.

I would say call in, those guys are generally quite understanding about stuff like this and will usually let you keep them.

I had a similar thing with GW. I ordered a space wolf pack from their online store and it didn't turn up for a whole month. After calling two weeks after the dispatch date the guy there said "oh don't worry it's probably been lost in the post, we'll send you another" after checking his order forms. But then two weeks later, what turns up in the post? A space wolf pack box with re-delivery stamps all over it.

GS

While this doesn't seem to be the case here, I've heard they also have a tendency to throw freebies in with large orders- I've heard of clubs that combine orders getting a free pack of MK VI marines, for instance (The 5 pack, not the giant one).

Well I did the right thing and called them. They had spoke to the other guy - and simply told me to keep these and they'll ship out some new weathering bits.

So...the question now remains. To I ebay these, or do I convert to some Wolf Guard?

Personally, I would call Forgeworld. But then I'm one of the more morally and ethically aligned individuals out there. The way I see it, one of two things would happen by calling:

1.) They give you the weathering pots and ask for you to return the Terminators.

2.) They send you the weathering pots and let you keep the Terminators.

I'm not quite sold yet. Right now all I have is three second edition termies - so I was relying on the Wolf Guard Termie box set for bits for them as well as my Dreadnaught and Land Raider.

I'm not that great with green stuff, and looking at the models there's a lot of tassle to fur conversion needed, plus I lack bits...

there's a couple of really good 'cast your own' kits for fur pelts - I'll do a google and see if I can find the ones used by a mate of mine (they're genuinely simple to use) I'm what you'd call 'le noob' when it comes to GSfu, otherwise there are some great articles on the B&C that are pretty simple to use smile.png

here's a decent article - I've not tried this myself yet but it looks pretty simple :) ---> http://fromthewarp.blogspot.co.uk/2012/06/how-to-sculpt-and-mold-fur-cloaks-and.html

but if the GS doesnt work for you, there is another solution.

ebay has numerous bits sites that offer wolf pelts from the warhammer fantasy range, such as:

empire knights of the white wolf

high elf lion chariot

high elf white lions (i havent tried these ones myself, but have used the lion chariots pelts so it cant be too different)

i believe the orc and goblin goblin box set comes with pelts

chaos marauders have decent pelts.

all these are in plastic, and are easy to use. I do it all the time cause my gs-fu is weak.

WLK

Check out http://www.thewarstore.com.  They have fur pelts in their GW Bitz section.  Also in the third party providers categories.  There's even a silicon texture mold that works with green stuff to create a fur pattern.  I use maxmini/ GW chaos marauder pelts, necklaces from the Thunderwolf Cav set, WG Term set bitz, and GS to wolf up my Cataphractae for my VI Legion.

No need to turn the tassels into fur, unless that's your personal taste.

I just added a few wolf tails and charms, shaved off the eyes of horus and used some bare space wolf heads for my justaerin->wg conversion.

I left most of the spikes on there too.  because spikes.
