The way I keep hearing is that the Avernii are the "First Company" veterans. The Morlocks are the Terminator Elite of the Avernii and apparently function in a similar manner to the Pyre Guard and the Phoenix Guard. I don't know how it's going to work out. We'll find out September 29th in 30(29 now I guess) days.

A few things I noticed looking at that map (hope the link works, I hate GoogleDocs... had to register with Photobucket in the end) - the board does an auto-resize, right?

1. There are very few ECs, when compared to the other Legions (only the ones I circled on the left)

2. The 'Winged sword' icon is identified in the legend as 'Loyal'; Loyal what? Loyal army, loyal command, Loyal ... !?

3. Except for what I assume is a suicide ambush unit of World Eaters and Legio Mortis, the 'Original 4' were being attacked from a unified front to begin with; it's just once 4 more Legions turned traitor that the table really turned against the Loyalists...

1. This map looks like, as Kol said, the endgame. I don't know how bad the EC's got hit by the IH's, But we know at least 1000 terminators slammed into the EC's face. It could be that they held back and consolidated to that point to rearm and recoup, and bathe in Fulgrim's light after Ferrus's death.

2. Dropsite? The Arrow pointing up and winged could be an indicator of that, and it was placed on the map to show where the loyal legions were falling back to.

3. Define suicide. When your enemy is on the run, jump on his back and stab. Hell, it looks like they're enveloping an entire battlegroup there. To the World Eaters, that's called "victory through slaughter", lol.

But didn't the three Legions land in separate areas? That could still be the purpose of the symbol, though. We still have the burning sword n' cog unaccounted for.

Edit: Its place opposite one of the big Legio Mortis symbols could suggest a Loyalist Titan Legio or, again, an Imperial Army armour regiment.

As for the DZ, I'm assuming it may be the last one intact / not contested.

That'd be my guess about a loyal titan legion. Of course, the only crazies outside of a God-Machine who are willing to charge and attempt to overwhelm a titan legion would be the World Eaters.

Thanks to getting my books back, according to page 425 of The First Heretic, apparently there was only one landing site(it was mentioned as "the Loyalist landing site", seemed rather specific) was claimed by the Iron Warriors to set up with the Gal Vorbak right next to them. Although it gets weird because it says that the Night Lords set up on one flank of the Depression while the Alpha Legion set up on the other and the Iron Warriors and at least Argel Tal's division were supposed to be the anvil. So best I can tell, it should look like this:

With blue being the "flank" and yellow being the "landing zone". I'm guessing at it since the Night Lords are on both flanks. Although, I should also note that page 425(which describes the layout) of The First Heretic says that the main Word Bearer force(not the Gal Vorbak) was split between reinforcing the Alpha Legion and the Night Lords. But I had already drawn my pretty lines by the time I read that so, yeah. I'm lazy. Sue my lawyer.

\Basically, except for the split in the Night Lords and the split in the Iron Hands, it looks pretty much exactly like it did in The First Heretic. Although no clues are given to the identities of the two icons. Although on page 414, Lorgar says how the fight will be "Astartes against Astartes, brother against brother." but that just mean the priority target will be the Loyalist Astartes.

Also, I recall someone asking if Sevatar's helmet was head-crested or painted. According to page 413:

A guttural grunt of amusement issued from Sevatar's skull-painted helm.

Again, all cited material are pages 413(Sevatar's helm), 414(Astartes against Astartes), 420(Gal Vorbak will stand with Iron Warriors) and 425(layout of the Four "Loyalist" Legions as they land and set up) of <em>The First Heretic</em> by A D-B.

Oh, and because it was awesome:

EDIT: Code went stupid on me.

I think we can confirm that the Cog-flaming sword is a Legio icon (sorry, there's no PrintScreen icon on my damned iBook...)

At 0:56 on the video, we see a still showing an IH contemptor dread and a Reaver Titan which bears the Cog-Flamingsword icon...

Lexicanum's only source for that Titan's existence is White Dwarf 111. If anyone has access to that issue . . . ?

I have a feeling it's just that picture of a model, like in a list of Loyalist Titan Legions.

Nice of them to pick it up and run with it, if so.

How I hate FW... I was pretty much dead set on playing WE in 30k, and had begun work on my first few models (well, just the bases so far, so no paint has been slapped on yet), but now that I've seen that stunning Salamander, I can't stop thinking they could look mighty fine too! :\

And no, I couldn't afford two 30k armies! T_T
