Sorry, depthcharge, I missed that. Didn't mean to get your hopes up too high.

I can't find any mention in my notes of a specific Legion Rite of War. But it may just be my notes weren't that extensive.

However, look at what they gave the Emperor's Children for a Rite of War.

They may not change the rules, but something like does strike as a fluffy and decent bonus. Maybe there is still hope. It might actually help the World Eaters get a chance to win in close combat.

The emperors children rite of war looks fun.

Pus one movement in the first turn, out flanking seeker and destroyer squads appeaing in the turn I want them to.

However I can't take my cataphractii and if the enemy bring a primarch you have all but given the enemy a victory point

@kol

Yeah. At the moment, the SoH are better than us in cc due to the merciless fighter rule and it looks like they are taking away our dignity by putting chainaxes in the reaver squads without any point upcharge. Might as well play SoH.

Can anyone tell me what the special rite of war is for the EC? I cant really read it geek.gif

All EC units gain +1" their move run and charge distances in the first turn

1 to 3 elite or fast attack units must be held in reserves. These don't count as part of normal reserves. You write down which turn they arrive on and they gain outflank

Can't take models with immobile, slow and purposeful or heavy special rule

Can't take allied space marines

Can't take fortifications

Has to take a legion champion as. Second HQ

If you don't achieve slay the warlord the enemy gain 1vp.

Well, they may just be chainblades! biggrin.png

I dunno, you bring up a lot of examples and as much as I want to, I can't example bring up anything good.....

Right, the RoW.

Okay, you get two effects:

The Open Blade: All of the controlling player's units that are using this Rite of War get =1 to their Movement and Run and Charge on their first player turn.

The Hidden Blade: Choose 1-3 units from the Elites and/or Fast Attack Slots. These and any and all attached independent characters are placed in their own little reserve area and are separated from the rest of your reserves(don't count towards Drop Pod Assault, army maximum reserves, etc). Then, after deployment ends but before the game begins, the controlling player must pick either turn 2, 3, or 4 for when they want the special reserves to come in and secretly write it down on a note. Leave the note facedown in plain sight until the turn arrives. When its that turn, reveal the note and bring in your reserves. All units coming in will enter as normal and gain the Outflank USR.

Limits: Detachments using this Rite of War may not field units with Immobile, Heavy or Slow and Purposeful.

Must take a Legion Champion as a second Compulsory HQ.

Primary detachments using this Rite of War may not take Fortifications or allied Space Marine Legion detachments.

If Slay the Warlord is a secondary objective and you fail to Slay the Warlord, your opponent gets +1 Victory Point.

EDIT: Guess I took too long to type.

A couple of things that are slightly annoying me:

1) In this months White Dwarf we had a WIP of Kar Phaeron, and a close up of his head which was snarling and covered in runes - that looked awesome. The head in the clip is very different to this, not snarling or covered in runes, but a blank-ish look on his face and some pipework. I hope the rune covered snarling head is an optional replacement head for this model, as it was stunning and I would hate for it to be dropped.

2) Why is Erebus in red? I thought that even at this point in time the chaplains were in black, and I'm fairly sure that in TFH (which is referenced as the primary vision for these minatures) that the chaplains wore black armour, and the gathering of the chaplains with Lorgar was known as "the gatherings of the black". Seeing him in red seems a little off for me, maybe it'll grow on me.

Other than that, hugely glad to see painted versions of these minatures, something I've been looking forward to since the Heresy Weekender. Given that they're completed, painted and have a video about their creation - is this something we can expect for Games Day UK in limited numbers? It doesn't say in the video, but the timing feels about right given we're less than two weeks away now.

Awesome models!

EDIT - d'oh, need to check my email. Yes they are going to be available at Games Day in limited numbers. Ninja'd by ForgeWorlds mailer system :p

I dont see whats wrong with the colours, its looks like a decent paintjob, better than the one Angron got.

These are personal feelings, of course: I think Erebus would look better with a more muted colour palette of crimson, silver/metal grey and bone. As for Kor Phaeron, a darker grey is in order, methinks.

Strictly personal, though.

With Kor I did prefer the older head, but yeah dem claws indeed.

Those claws are actually practical. They allow manipulation with your fingers and provide an attack element.

Though I would say that those are more like talons than anything which fit the whole decrepit old man thing (which I can see lots of raven gaurd conversions with those arms definitely)

I really like the details on Kor Phaeron's armor, but his face looks like something from the zombie sprue... The face from the White Dwarf preview was so much better, he still looked ancient, but had a definite evil sort of vitality coming through.

I think the model's head from last month's WD summed him up perfectly with a kind of sneering condescension about everything but they've nailed it with the armour, shows how he can't get the majority of the benefits of it since he lacks a Black Carapace
