   Hey, that's my local paper.

Maybe...No like seriously guys....stay with me here....maybe...like...we'll actually get loyalist stuff!

You mean the Salamanders will actually get models so that Jaspcat can make trophies to show off to Prime in their shocking but inevitable showdown? Insidious!

Well, I'll be a monkey's uncle.

I see some nice conversion bits in that Iron Hands squad. Kinda wish they'd get stuff out for the Legions in Betrayal, though...

Would be nice to go ahead and finish off the WE and DG, haha still need to put together a WB list too. For my kick the Ultras in the mouth list

Well I hope nobody takes this the wrong way, but the four Legions from Betrayal weren't really... different in terms of aesthetics. Even now, all the SoH isn't for its portrayal in Betrayal, but its portrayal in Massacre, were it has gone from hiding the Warrior Lodges, to now becoming organized around the Lodges. Immediately, the SoH will undergo changes in aesthetics. The World Eaters, Death Guard and Emperor's Children, not so much. However, those three Legions are always ripe for conversion.

Legions like the Iron Hands, Salamanders and Space Wolves(arguably the Thousand Sons as well) on the other hand, are radically different in appearance from the get-go.

I would agree to that. But I do think that the level of success has enabled FW to go all out for the second and third books. The first book was more of a test to see how well Legions would sell. That could be why there were comparatively fewer releases for it. I would bet that FW would have liked to come up with more cool bits for each legion, but could not justify the cost without knowing whether they would sell or not. Like gas mask style helms for the Death Guard, or filigree covered armor for the Emperors Children...

Quite true.

They were evidently more successful than their wildest dreams and I'm sure gamers discontent at GW has contributed in some form to the large shift.

That said....

FORGEWORLD MAKE IT RAIN!!!!

Oh no doubt, as things progress we'll start seeing them. I think that from Forgeworld's stance, start the long-term projects(like these "Iron Hands Only" Legion Squads) now, so when more time becomes available, they can do all the little stuff as they come to it. Which is part of the reason I am so perplexed as to why the Salamanders are taking so long. I'd have to guess they had to do them one at a time and simply picked the Iron Hands since Manus' death was the more iconic aspect of the Dropsite Massacre.

At the same time, another thinking of this would be the four Legions of Betrayal. They start out quite possibly the most normal, with the exception of behavioral traits that can lead to countless conversion opportunities. But as the Heresy goes on, these same four Legions will undergo the most radical of changes. The SoH will be immediate with the EC right behind. Third will be the World Eaters with the Death Guard pulling up the rear, as they undergo their most radical change right before the Siege.

Oh sweet Imperator. That Sicaran in XIII Livery! Now I have to decide between a glaive and a Sicaran. Damn it.

Oh, and The Iron Hands are nice too!

But seriously, those  tenth legion bastards are glorious, they're yet another thing for my To Buy list.

Kol has a very good point. I wish though that they had done a more generic first book, rather than focus on any legions. Basically, release rules for one special unit for each legion and then focus on specific legions. And I'm pretty sure that they had a decent idea that the Heresy rules would sell well. I just think that they didn't realize quite how well.

riiight so my buying list has just gone from another 2 Xth Legion Contemptors to 20 of those beauties to make my Vet Tac Squads :D

I made the decision to sell a lot of stuff to get funds to finance my Tenth legion. So far raised £350. The contemptor, Manus, and now these guys top the list.
