I know the feeling, Jasp. It's like some freak series of occurrences in a million to one chance that has crafted "what 40k should have been" within the realms of Forgeworld. Kinda like those forgotten african plateaus that still have dinosaurs ^_^

The Death Guard have the Death Shroud and the Grave Wardens. Rule nothing out. Especially since the Gorgons are a Terminnator unit unique to the Iron Hands while the Morlocks are the Terminator Elite of the Iron Hands.

The Morlocks are/were all Gorgon Terminators - Alan Bligh confirmed this back in May at the Heresy Weekender.

And?

Anything's possible.

Surely if all Morlocks were Gorgon Terminators there's no need to make separate models for both? Replying with "And? Anything's possible" is a bit stubborn, I could say the same about GW making a model for the Emperor's pet giraffe or something.

Alan Bligh's exact words were: "All Morlocks are Gorgon Terminators, but not all Gorgon Terminators are Morlocks"

The implication being that there would not be any specific models for the Morlocks, and that they would be represented on the table with Gorgon Terminator squads. However there are Gorgon Terminators which are not part of the Morlocks, ie Gorgons from Clans other than Avernii.

I swear, it's like GW has firmly decided to push any and all fluff hobbyists as far away as possible by jumping up and down on the corpse of any and all beloved "niche" factions. 

 

Wait... or maybe it's the greatest business plan ever? Are GW secretly the greatest stealth trolls of all time?

I swear, it's like GW has firmly decided to push any and all fluff hobbyists as far away as possible by jumping up and down on the corpse of any and all beloved "niche" factions. 

 

Wait... or maybe it's the greatest business plan ever? Are GW secretly the greatest stealth trolls of all time?

 

Let me put it this way - quite a few of us longer-term IH fans pretty much just ragequit and abandoned 40k Iron Hands for their 30k counterparts, where all that godawful retcon hasn't happened yet

He did say that. However, I hope the IH get another unit in the new book - preferably on of the 'sub classes of Terminator' within the Tenth Legion. In paticular, a unit that can go toe to toe with the nastiness of the Firedrakes and Red Butchers....if not Morlociks, a similar unit.

e.g 2 Wounds, Cataphratcii 2+/4++ other positives/negatives e.g WS5, FNP 5+ unable to capture objectives and suffer -1 to Charge distances.

And since there is no current distinction between the Morlock Gorgons and the Morlocks aren't even mentioned in the Gorgon unit entry, I have the right to believe. After all, all Justaerin are Cataphractii but not all Cataphractii are Justearin. And yet look how that turned out.

All Alan Bligh said is that the Morlocks will be wearing Gorgon pattern. Not that they won't be set apart from the rest of the Gorgons.

Clan structure is gone in all but name. IH are a wholly codex-compliant chapter and all that entails in the supplement.

Ah, but is that any worse then turning them into petty yet hypocritical thugs of the Mechanicum? 

 

Or better yet, more or less destroying an entire contingent of Ravenguard. Not just "letting those who are strong survive," but actively disrupting their communications. 

 

Or my favorite, Iron Father titles basically being passed around like "Participant" ribbons.

 

"Hey, thanks for coming by and visiting the chapter. Here's your seat on the Iron Council. Kardan Stronos? Never heard of him."

 

My older brother is a *huge* fan. He's had a giant Admech + Iron Hands force since about '99 or so. Needless to say, he straight up jumped ship to 30k without a backwards glance.

Now it's off to another week of long long long long long long long hours at work.

 

Fingers crossed for something to excite me before Christmas!

You guys are managing to draw me over to the 30k side. :)  Not sure I'll give up 40k entirely but all of you are doing a wonderful job and its very inspiring!  I'm hoping both my HH books arrive today in fact!

Im annoyed that FW is too expensive for me right now (not annoyed with the prices, quality is expensive). I cant wait to get a bit of economical stability and by that I mean finish my last year of studies, finish getting my damn drivers license and hopefully finding a job. Until then the Horus Heresy must wait and I will have to work on my DIY chapter (and even that will be slow moving) :(
