I think I hit the jackpot this year though gents (though I dare say I can't top a case of Jameson) - the missus has 'informed' me that SHE will be cooking christmas dinner... and stated that she'll enjoy it :o

I'm hoping I'll have enough to pick up Ferrus and maybe Fulgrim in Jan as well, Lorgar I feel needs some runes etched into his skull though.

To prevent further jeffing,

Faeit has a rumor that forgeworld will release a horus heresy starter set that includes models, accessories, and rules.

This is extremely generic, but I think there's truth to it and FW is just waiting for everyone to get their christmas money. Excellent....

By 40K, the tradition was in remembrance of Ferrus Manus. In 30K, it was in honor of him. But yes, all Iron Hands will have one arm, the same arm on all, cybernetically grafted, and then whatever cybernetics they pick up along the way.

From what I've heard, that is no longer in accordance with Clan Ruukan.

It was always a tradition of the 10th Legion, even before Ferrus was killed. To become a fully-fledged member of the Iron Hands legion, Aspirants had to have a literal Iron Hand. Prior to the Raukaan supplement, this was always the left hand. That isn't to say that at a later date the right hand/arm wouldn't end up being replaced, but the first mandatory upgrade any Astartes of the 10th Legion has to have is the replacement of the left hand.

If you read the Iron Hands background material in Massacre, it explains the origins of the obsessions with bionics very well.

Basically, the 10th Legion shunned the idea of healing seriously wounded Legionaries with vat-grown flesh parts because the time required for recuperation/physio was considered too long. Consequently, they went down the path of exclusively using bionics, as it was a much faster process to get the wounded Legionary back on the battlefield. Due to the 'up close & personal' style of fighting that the Iron Hands use, it wasn't long before their Veteran Legionaries ended up being more machine than man, and the rest of the Legion began to see bionic parts as a 'mark of honour', ie the more visible bionics a Legionary had, the more battles he had fought & won, and therefore the more bionics a Legionary has, the better warrior he was.

After the death of Ferrus, the obsession with bionics as honour markings slowly devolved into a sickness of replacing flesh with steel as rapidly as possible, in order to become an immortal machine warrior. The belief is that if all Iron Hands had of done that from the outset, they would have been able to better defend Ferrus at Isstvan, and their beloved Primarch would still be alive.

Ahwell - I may do my terminators with both hands silver/iron then :) as at the time I thought it was right hand... Thanks for the info Urza :)

I'm really really hoping for a Terminator Bionics pack... Saw someone (icr where) do some awesome bionical legs and arms for Termies and want me own haha :p

I could actually see that working hella well. Something like:

10 x tactical marines

5 x assault marines

1 x praetor

one or two weapon packs

small rule book

one of those badge things FW is throwing in everything these days

$150

More like 10 assault marines. According to the HH: Betrayal the minimum squad size for assault and tactical is 10 marines.

It would definetly be a very interesting idea, maybe along side they could sell legion upgrade packs: unique armour, pauldrons, heads, weapons, etc.

Doesn't the Clan Raukan supplement claim that the Tenth went full Vader because they see Ferrus's death on Isstvan V as the result of him succumbing to his weak fleshy emo-shuns?

(Yes, this is enraging to old guard Iron Hands players and yes, it's utter nonsense because Corax and Vulkan only survived via Alpha Legion nonsense and Plot Shields To The Max!, respectively. Don't blame me, I didn't write it)

We don't blame you brother - or anyone else, even the thrice-cursed Wardian Heresy... For how can you put blame on something that doesn't exist? ;)
