Oh snaps! They *do* have a chain-glaive. It looks pretty badass curved like a katana.

I have to agree, the wings do look kinda like flames. I'm not huge on the blue either. At least forgeworld paints lightning pretty darn well.

More like a nagamaki, actually...

I made one similiar but for my cataphractii and it isnt curved but it is a short spear like an...ashigaru? is that it?

And now that I think about it....

If you mixed the 5 raptors with 5 mkV assault marines you might be golden. I've noticed that mixing gear and not putting all the shiny bits on a few models actually makes everything look better as a whole.

You can solve the ballerina poses with the mkV bodies to look like they are landing and use some of the bling on the other guys to make them all look different (sans sleeve dude)

Any idea if the torsos and legs are one piece like the Reaver squads or?

I wish they had done them more in the style of the old 3rd edition metal/finecast model Raptors. Or at least have thrown in a kit somewhere that echoed them. Those guys looked great - scary and Chaosy without spikes - sleek and bird-like.

That's why they didn't. The sleek, bird-like look was a result of mutation. That's why they didn't do it. That's why there are no claws on the boots. That's why these guys look like assault marines wearing modified gear, slightly embellished with trophies.

Yes, but their design lineage doesn't seem to be linked to any particular HH pattern equipment - and mutation can only explain so much divergence in my opinion. It would be nice to see some sort of HH pattern that had similar design aesthetics (triangular vented engine cowlings, fully shielded respirators, etc) as seen on those 3rd edition 40k Raptors, so we could see the 'baseline' from which they started from. They don't have to have claws on their boots - like you said, that's the mutation's work later.

I just think the leaner, more angular look of that pattern/style of jump trooper suits the sinister Night Lords much better. Simply inserting a sub-pattern of faceplate and jump engine would suffice, and not without precedent.

Rejoice my fellow eaters of worlds......Khârn is coming.....From Forgeworld......

Hi there,

We will be releasing the Red Butchers for sale in early January but we are unlikely to release the Khârn model until February.

Hey brothers, how long do you think until we get a book featuring the Blood Angels or the Imperial Fists? Im getting very tempted, after being informed about the availability of MK VI and MK VII armour at the Battle for Terra, to start a HH army again with either one of those legions.

Its either that or my DIY, but we all know that 30k is SO much better.

Exciting times!

The Grave Wardens look fantastic, and will pair with Typhon really well from what we've seen of him so far.

The Sallie shoulder pads look good too, if a little fragile.
