thor1234
1250 points draft HQ: Gideon: Terminator Armour, Mace (sword) of redemption, Storm Shield, CombiPlasma 175 pointsTroops 1: Tactical Squad: (10) Plasma Gun, Sergeant , Plasma Cannon Razorback W/Twin-linked Assault Cannons 245 points Troops 2: Tactical Squad: (10) Plasma Cannon, Plasma Gun, Sergeant, Razorback W/Twin-linked Lascannons 245 points Fast Attack:: Ravenwing Knights (5), 1 Grenade Launcher, Melta Bombs 215 points Elites 1: Deathwing Knights: (5) 235 points Heavy Support 1: Vindicator Siege Tank 125 points This will be my new blog; it will be here I shall put up pictures of my forces, tactics and Battle Reports..... First up a battle report, note that this will have 0 pictures as a lot of the figures were Counts as and as such were not painted.... The game was a 1250 points game Versus A chaos Space Marine Force here’s what he had: HQ: Sidius, Master Sorcerer of the Thousand Sons: W/Mastery Level 3, Mark of Tzeench, Terminator Armour, Murder Sword 185 points Troops 1: Chaos Space Marine squad: (5) Plasma Gun, Plasma Pistol,Powerfist, Icon of vengeance 155 points Troops 2: Thousand Sons Squad: (5) Sorcerer 150 points Troops 2: Thousand Sons Squad: (5) Sorcerer 150 points Elites 1: Chaos Terminators: (4) 4 Combi Meltas & Power Axes, Markof Tzeentch 166 points Heavy Support 1: Obliterators: (3) W/Mark of Tzeench 234 points Fast Attack 1: Warp Talons: (5) Mark of Tzeench, 2 Gifts of Mutation 210 points Quite a small Warband of Chaos in this Instance, it’s worth noting for future reference that outside of tournament play, my gang and I always share our lists before rolling for missions and so forth, so to see his list always leaves a bit stunned as to what random stuff he fields, nonetheless the figuresare well painted (but not by him! ) I just hoped my vehicles could survive the onslaught: Warlord Traits: Gideon had ‘The Hunt’ and Sidius Rolled one that gavehim re-rolls on his gods table. Powers: Sidius had Breath of Chaos, Iron Arm, Endurance, Both Sorcerers had the Boon of chaos. Mission: The Relic, Dawn of WarChaos won the roll and elected to go first, the deployment phase saw everything bar the Warp Talons down, both units of thousand sons deployed on the flanks of the Terminators, the sorcerer’s close enough to boost either Sidius or the Terminator Champ, and the right Flank had the Chaos Space Marine Squad, while the left had the Obliterators.Gifts: Warp talon champ: +1 SV, +1 WSDA Deployment, full Combat Squads with both Plasma Cannons, taking Flanking positions in ruins, each Gun squad mounted up, and the Razorbacks took flanking positions of the vindicator, the intent to punch a hole in the Chaos lines steal the relic from the Crashed Lander and be back home in time for tea and medals.... the Black Knights went on the same Flank as the Chaos Space Marines, they used their Scout move to get closer to them. DA Turn 1: I started well by stealing the Initiative, and deep Striking the Deathwing into the fray, Thanks to some accurate use of the Black Knights, the Deathwing were now in the perfect position, the Black Knights found themselves ready to unleash some fire power into the Chaos Space Marines, the Alpha strike was just that, the Vindicator fired on the Obliterators, killing two and a further Terminator, While 2 Plasma Cannons made a mess of the Thousand sons reducing both squads to less than 5 between them, the Black Knights eager to earn some respect, gunned down all 5 chaos Space Marines, to add Insult to injury, Gideon Gunned down 2 more terminators with his Plasma Gun (with a Little Help from the Twin-linked goodness) CSM Turn 1:Sidius boosted his S & T to insane levels, followed by both Sorcerers gifting him, +1 S/+1 T/+1 WEverything Advanced, the last Obliterator firing his Plasma Cannon but some lucky storm Shield saves later and none of the Deathwing had fallen...(pun not intended but we’ll go with it) Everything else focused on the Deathwing but their improved Toughness and armour prevented any damage, finally Sidius made a long charge into the Black Knights, cutting down the hunt Master without pausing, gaining himself a further +1I, the Terminators charged the Black Knights to Try and slow them down, Gideon was Challenged out, his mace unable to find a weak point in the Chaos warriors armour, and in return, he turned aside the Power Axe wielded bythe Champion, the Deathwing Activated ‘Smite Mode’ removing the terminators, Leaving Gideon and the champion Locked. DA Turn 2; both Combat Squads disembarked almost onto of the Obliterator, and everything Fired on him, but when the dust settled he had passed 11 invulnerable saves and 17 armour Saves! Gideon Still could not penetrate the aura surrounding the Champion and was even forced to use his challenge re-roll to avoid taking a wound!CSM Turn 2: the Warp talons arrived, landing by the plasma cannons in the rear, blinding a squad, the obliterator lived up to his name, removing a Combat squad, whiles Sidius slaughtered the Black knights, Finally Gideon downed the Champion, freeing up the Deathwing. DA Turnn3: the Plasma Cannons concentrated on the Warp Talons, one died as his weapon exploded while the other managed to miss altogether as he was blinded, even Bolters failed to harm the deamonic beasties! The Combat Squad still surviving fired everything on the Obliterator but still he wouldn’t relent, the Tanks all fired on Sidius but still he wouldn’t die!, The Deathwing Multi-charged the Thousand sons, the Sorcerer taking a maul to the face, while the Deathwing dealt with the Squad, the lucky surviving Sorcerer took down a Knight with his Force axe, but was then hopelessly Surrounded by his foes (all ready to beat face!) CMS Turn 3: Sidius was again boosted to super human levels, ripping the Vindicator apart, the Obliterator finished off the plasma Combat Squad and proceeded towards the Razorbacks, the Warp Talons Showed their skills by tearing one heavy weapon squad apart with losing a single warrior. The Deathwing Knights finished off the thousand sons and turned back towards Sidius. DA Turn 4: The survivors of the Plasma cannon Squad Mercilessly blasted three warp talons to death, Gideon Continued to lead his warriors after Sidius, the Razorbacks again poured fire onto the Obliterator but couldn’t penetrate his armour...CSM Turn 4: with Sidius enjoying himself a little too much he went straight for the Deathwing, the obliterator got rid of the last threat to him, the Lascannon Razorback with accurate Melta Fire. Sidius made his second long charge of the game into the Deathwing, with him boosted to such levels Gideon Knew he would be no match, but the Master accepted, the murder Sword rebounding from his armour, despite 7 wounds. The Warp talons hit home 3 Dark angels and one Talon were killed, leaving a one on one fight.... DA Turn 5: the Razorback sped away from the Obliterator, trying to escape him. Sidius Still could not bring the Master Low, but with his toughness so high, neither could the master harm him..... CSM Turn 5: the Obliterator blasted the Razorback with a Lascannon bolt, while the Warp talon and surviving Tactical Marine killed each other. Sidius Critically failed to cast Iron Arm, and failed yet again to slay the Champion, who in return Wounded him with his Flail....DA Turn 6: as the game Dragged on with just Sidius remaining Gideon interceded on the Masters behalf, his first blow struck Sidius’s armour and Glanced off, the Second was deflected by the Daemon Blade, the Third Struck home, an almighty flashed then blinded the Chaos lord and his mindless flailing attacks found only Gideon’s Shield. A single wound got through the Obliterator from the Razorbacks Assault Cannons. CSM Turn 6: in probably the most unlucky turn of 40K I’ve ever seen, Sidius killed himself as he tried to manifest his powers, while the Obliterator claimed an objective putting chaos in the seat for a win decided 2 twin-linked shots of plasma were better than asingle Melta under cover of darkness, and you guessed it overheated and died.... This left a surprised Dark Angel force in control of the Battlefield.... Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/270876-gideon-returns/ Share on other sites
WatchCaptainAzrael
And with this we learn: serving Tzeentch never pays off. Oh, and there was a pair of Watchers high-fiving each other on the border of the map over that plasma meltdown, I'm sure. FerociousBeast
Nice batrep, very entertaining :) All the CSM's bad luck at the end compensated for the good luck at the beginning. facmanpob
Good work with the plasma cannons on turn 1, although it never ceases to amaze me that people cluster their troops together in the face of blast weapons! Good win for the Dark Angels! :) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/270876-gideon-returns/#findComment-3299745 Share on other sites
