the emperor is scottish
I need advice on painting oil. It's no really for vehicles but instead between armour joints and spilling from mouths. I know there was a good tutorial in a white dwarf a good wee while back, it was how to paint an ork stompa so must have coincided with their release. winterdyne
A brown-black works well. As with all weathering, 'less is more' should be your mantra. It's very easy to add a bit more, and it's very easy to overdo it. Start by using a fine tip brush to add just a streak or two or pin wash into recesses. Build it up slowly. puck
If you seal the model with varnish you can thin the oil paint with mineral spirits and then use it like a wash. If you overdo it you can simply use pure mineral spirits to do a sort of reverse dry brush on it. Awesomepaintjob's youtube channel has some examples of this. It works really well for painting Deathwing. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/270915-painting-oil/#findComment-3299977 Share on other sites
