Im using one of the heresy era Jet Bikes as im not a fan of the Flappy caped floating Steam train that is "Corvex" at the moment sick.gif

it should be unique and stand out a bit but not like the proverbial dog's[cuss], some bits from the ravenwing sprues should be enough to bling it up.

cheers Mithril

how about a non-jetbike thing? maybe a regular bike? kinda don't want to entronch on any fluff.

How would you use the jet bike rules?

I also really don't think this is the very last jet bike, since it almost says they have a cache or STC for Corvex... It's possible that each 2nd Company Unforgiven Master has a jet bike.

Your not really encroaching on the fluff. I haven't read the full entry regarding corvex, nor do i have the new dex in front of me, but in the last dex it was written more vaguely as more or less one of the last jetbikes - yet not the very last one.

In fact it was written that it was one of the last of that particular mark. Other marks may exist in the current timeline, like the scimitar.

If you want to get away from a jetbike all together, I guess you can just put him on a blinged out bike converted with the correct arament. Or use him in his land speeder.

Do some google image searches on things like:

Space marine jetbike

Jetbike conversion

Sammael conversion

Jetbike scratch build

Etc

There are a lot of good conversions out there. I'm working ob one of my own at the moment. I hacked the wheels off a dark vengeance bike and then started going to town. It's pretty fun, actually.

Good luck!

Pimp my Ride a normal bike, then model the grand master as if he just launched off a ramp/rock/etc and is in mid air.  That should solve your problem of explaining how he can ignore terrain.  Just like the movies if he needs to get over an object you can bet that fate has placed a suitable launching platform just before it.... And I REALLY would like to see it modeled up.

I can't quit looking at the Thunder, my razor knife, and the rw command sprue.  I think I could really make something work here.  Maybe a couple storm bolters trimmed down to fit over the tiny barrels on the nose and a plasma cannon underslung.....hmmmm

Here's what I've been working on. I'm not a master hobbyist by any stretch, but I like how it's turning out. I like it better than the official model at any rate.

That's pretty nice Upstartes (I would definitely cover up the part that looks like a missile feed into the reversed launchers). It almost looks like a ram-jet style jetbike (large front scoop). What did you use to form the front scoop?

The sides of the front scoop are buttresses from a Sanctum Imperialis (pic here). I like that they sort of share a look with the wings of the Dark Talon/Nephilim, and will probably paint them in a similar fashion. The top and bottom of the scoop are nothing special - I used rhino doors out of my bits box that I cut to size, but plasticard would probably work just as well. Getting it put together in the trapezoidal shape was a bit of a challenge, but came out ok. I intend to put the ravenwing open book bit on top of the scoop (ala the traditional Sammael model) - it nestles nicely between the winged bits on the front end and the bolter bits.

Hmmm i don't understand this. Sammuel is one of the best looking minitures GW has done. I could see modding sam himself to get a chapter specifc look, but the jetbike looks amazing.

With the exception of ezikiel, which also look amazing, even for such an old model, pretty much all the other named characters could be done better.

Here are the things I don't like about the GW Sammael:

1. His head and face. Something is just wrong there. It's hard to put my finger on it, but I don't like the look.

2. His body seems to bulky/fat. Maybe its just the robes and cloak, but I think it's more than that. He just looks too big.

3. He looks like he's riding a bucking bronco or a bull-riding machine. Seriously, this is the first impression I get every time I look at the model. It's not just his body position either. There is something about the lines of the model that give the actual bike an appearance of being curved like it's bucking under him. I know this is an illusion, but I can't shake it. Some of it has to do with the exhaust pipes that have a different angle than the rest of the bike.

With all that said, yes, the detail is great. There are lots of things to like about the model, and I don't knock anyone for wanting it. The artwork of Sammael on Corvex in the books look awesome. But the model just isn't for me.

In answer to Bryan's question about the plasma cannon: The plasma cannon is going under the scoop. It will be turned sideways, flat against the bottom of the scoop. I'm actually leaning towards using a largish plasma gun bit with some extra stuff on it instead of a cannon. This is mostly due to just wanting to keep thing sleek-looking. Those pre-heresey tech guys knew how to make small plasma cannons, am-I-right? ;)
