The Cleansing of Rygria - The Dark Angels march to war

Rygria IV; our once beautiful planet, a perfect mix between industry and artistry. Our planet traded with others in the system and other systems in its relative locality, there were even rumours in the data-blogs we had even recently begun trading with another species too, who had sent envoys to set up trade agreements for the metallic ores harvested deep within the core.

 

When the planetary governor had declared Rygria's sovereignty, great street parties and banquets were held in celebration.

 

And in doing so we sentenced ourselves to the deathly nightmare of the Emperors Angels. 

 

But these weren't the kind of monsters that had tentacles and rotting skin, the kind a seven-year-old might be able to wrap his mind around, they were monsters with human faces, in bulkish armour, marching in lockstep, so banal you don't recognize them for what they are until it's too late...

 

...

 

...for two days the Dark Angels had devastated Rygria's city-spires and manufactorums with cyclonic torpedoes from orbit.

 

And then they came, with trails of fire on wings of steel,

 

Angels of Death, they had come for us...  

 

 

 

Overview/Prelude

 

So what will probably my final 40k army, is also the same one I started on my tenth birthday over 20 years ago. 

 

Unfortunately GW has grown too expensive nowadays and most of my stuff has been sold off or traded away. I did want to do one final army to keep however, and with my first army being Dark Angels, and with Dark Vengeance and the codex being released, I decided to do one last army that would be the one I could retire with. 

 

This will be the fourth incarnation of the army, the first I started age 10 with the glorious Angels of Death codex, the second came when GW released the plastic tactical marines of 3rd edition. My third attempt was came with the 4th edition rules whilst I worked for GW, and with 6th edition now out I'll return to them for the last time.

 

So, this fourth attempt will hopefully be the best of the lot, I've done my little bit of inspiration text above that'll form the background to the army, along with the classic picture above forming an asthetic I want to try and achieve. So not only the Astartes, but the myriad of processionists marching alongside the Dark Angels like in the picture.

 

I've got the core of my force built, some pictures will get added shortly, but it'll be based around the following

 

Plastic counts as Belial

a squad of Deathwing Knights

one big squad of Deathwing

one small squad of Deathwing

Ravenwing Attack Squad

 

and then whatever takes my fancy after that.

 

That's enough text for now though I think, best go get some pictures sorted out.

Still plenty of work to do, greenstuff, drilling the barrels and various other additions. Tonight though is base making for them, as long as I don't get too distracted by the football
