Heres the first of my DA successor chapter I'm thinking of calling Knights of The Rock, going to be DW/RW force with every model robed.

C&C always welcome.

It's a very good model, don't get me wrong- but I saw the green and red and immediately thought "christmas".

"Spotting the heretic champion on the horizon, Brother Claus zealously waded his way through the scrambled melee in hopes of laying the fiend low.  Cultists and traitor marine alike were tossed away by the combined might of his thunderous hammer or bashed prone by Claus' sturdy shield.  The so-called champion seemed to stiffen, bracing himself for impact as Claus eventually charged.

Bringing his hammer to bare, Claus seemed positively jubilant, before uttering "Season's Beatings, Heathen!"

Sorry, couldn't resist.  What colors did you use for the red robe by the way? the shading on the hood looks quite good!

Thanks.  I get what you mean and didnt really think about it till you mentioned but I see if now, I just love the way the 2 colours go together,  oh well nevermind maybe all the objective markers will be xmas tress lol.

I do my red, Mephiston red base, wash with Athonian Camo shade then I layer Mephiston red and highlight with Evil Sunz scarlet.

Cheers Cornalias, the green isnt quite as bright as the picture makes out the flash definatley brightens it up though i did want a brighter looking model as everything I have painted recently has always been dark and grimey so fancied some bright and clean looking men.  I am working on the rest of the squad at atm will post them up when done.

I really like the scheme, don't think it's too "Christmasy" at all really and it wouldn't of occurred to me unless mentioned. I'd agree that the green and the red go really well together and I think if anything the white makes the whole thing "pop".  So nice colour choice all round really. :)

Look forward to seeing more of these guys.

Cool pose and cool color combination! However, I'd like for some sharper/brighter highlights on the armor and cloak - but that's just how I prefer my painting style. I do think, however, that it will make the details come out more, and take away the, in my opinion, flat look of the model.

Cheers!

I like the pose. A lot. Tis clobbering time.

As for red and green my own DIY codex chapter (Doom Fists, not my Knights of the Lion DA successor chapter) look similar (more of a camo green though, red as spot colour, and more white) so I am in no position to judge ;) Seriously though red and white contrast very well with greens so I'd stick with it. It took me ages to get a green combo I was happy with.

Ho-ho-ho, now we have boltguns.

I'll get me cloak.

Cheers for comments guys, am working on rest of unit as we speak but I'm a slow painter and doing the armour is not the quickest lol.

@Vadskaer I know what you mean, I personally have never like the extreme highlight look think it looks a little too cartoony but i can see doing a little to make the flat armour pop a bit more.
