nurglespuss
My regular opponent has no problem with me using a Storm Talon in my Blood Angles army without the need for taking anything else in the allies detachment (we both agree it seems daft for it to NOT be a Blood Angels toy.... But I don't think the allies rule is a bad thing, especially as you only need a single HQ and Troops choice. For me, it isn't how I can make my army 'harder or better' or to 'plug gaps' it merely does two things for me: Lets me paint things I wouldn't normally get to without starting yet another army Lets me use those little side projects I have knocking around that I never got round to collecting an army for. Mainly its fun! - My only allies rule (for my army) is that I have to paint any 'space marine/Imperial' stuff - barring Legion of the Damned - as 'Blood Angels' Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/271268-annoyed-by-allies/page/2/#findComment-3305955 Share on other sites
DasPanzerIstUber
The allies rules are not any worse than anything else in the rulebook. As usual, in the hands of good people they are fluffy and interesting. In the hands of a power gamer... I don't feel compelled to use them but its a nice option. My Black Templars roll solo but my Imperial Guard are a part of the Tau Empire so I ally a few units in here and there for some variation.
