LRR + Character + Saga of the Hunter + ?

Hello,

I know this has prob be covered alot before but I am still a bit confused?

I am looking for something to muck up others plans and having looked through past posts I was thinking this would be fun? But how does it work?

Do I attach an IC with the saga to a squad (prob going for GH's but cant decide?), have them in the LRR and hopefully get the big tank full of doom to outflank in a good position. THEN have to unattach the IC as the squad/tank doesnt have/cant outflank? Is the IC basically a deliver system?

Cheers, clarification would be very appreciated.

"During deployment, players can declare that any unit that contsins at least one model with this special rule is attempting to Outflank the enemy.  This means they are making a wide sweeping move to get behind enemy lines or come at the foe from an unexpected angle.

...

If such units are picked from their army list with a Dedicated Transport, they may Outflank along with their Transport, but if they do so, they must move onto the table embarked within it.", BRB, pg.40

So the IC w/ SotH can start the game attached to a unit in Reserves, and that unit can Outflank.  If that unit has a Dedicated Transport, they must start emarked in it but can then Disembark on the turn they Outflank.  An IC can't detach from a unit the turn they arrive from Reserves (BRB, pg.124).

The practical upshot of all this is that your IC w/ SotH can attach to a unit with a Land Raider Dedicated Transport (thus one Wolf Guard unit only) and the whole gang can Outflank your opponent.

Cheers for coming back and so quickly. Thats covers it very well thankyou, it also clears up what to put in the LR. Unfortunatly it also means its going to be lots of points (I was hoping I could do it it on the cheap?)

Maybe I will have to think of another plan, although I suppose i could do it without the LRR but it doesnt feel like it would have the same impact.

Thankyou again.

Well, it was never going to be "cheap":

- the lowest cost IC w/ SotH is the WG Battle Leader (80pts)

- you're better off going with the Wolf Priest for +30pts (inlcudes a Power Maul, Invul.Save, and +1Ld.  Loses 1BS, 1I, 1A)

- a 10-man Grey Hunter pack is 150pts minimum

- the 10-man Wolf Guard pack is only 180pts for +1Ld, & +1A (+30pts over the GH pack)

- the Land Raider (Crusader) is 250pts, but you save 10pts going with the Land Raider Redeemer.

Totaling : 530pts, sprinkle in some Power/Frost weapons and now you're talking some fun.

i take one for fun at the moment.  but in my competitive lists i take a squad of 10 GH (plasma guns, banner, power axe) , a wolf priest with runic armour and a plasma pistol.  this unit fires 5 plasma shots at 12 inches so it come on the side of the board usually on the see i want thanks to acute senses.  they then delete what ever they shoot at.  even 10 man termi squads have suffered due to the fact that the unit have preferred enemy.  they can take a charge and i have never lost the unit in any game i have run them.

The land raider variant is actually less survivable (if your opponent has melta)  as i never run a maxed out squad due to the points cost.

That's almost the exact set up I used to run before purchasing my WG. Think I also added a MotW into the mix. Preferred enemy with Plasma works great!

Now I run a RP with Arjac and 6-8 WG (full squad of 10 but some are split off to lead other packs). It's 685 points in total but they have pretty much won me games all by themselves. Arjac's ability to hit everything (with a WS) on a 3+, rerolling 1's, then wounding practically anything on a 2+, rerolling 1's is awesome! My mainopponent hates this unit with a passion! PF also has great synergy with Assault Cannons and the unit carries two of them as well!
