teblin
Hey all, wasn't sure where to put this, this seemed to fit the closest. I'm referring to the clear plastic bases with attachable rod that are included with skimmers, flyers etc. (this happens to concern a Land Speeder). The hole for the plastic rod seems to be too large and the rod slips out very easily if I lift the Land Speeder up. It seems as though I would have to glue it for it to stay in, but that would make transporting the Land Speeder in storage difficult, and would make it impossible to remove the base and have the model resting on the table if it was wrecked. How can I get a solid fit? It happens on both ends of the rod, in the circular base and the land speeder, it's loose at both ends. Thanks. Marshall Bretton
little bit of green stuff in the hole or around the top of the base? might not even be woth that, just put some glue on top of the base, leave it to dry and file it down till you get a nice fit. from memory the size difference isn't very big at all, just enough to be annoying Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/271554-problem-with-flyer-base/#findComment-3309041 Share on other sites
Seahawk
Lift it by the base, not the model. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/271554-problem-with-flyer-base/#findComment-3309063 Share on other sites
maverike_prime
2 solutions I have found in the past: 1- use rare earth magnets. attach one to the top of the stand and the other to the underside of the model. 2- Jewelery clasps, like for necklaces and bracelets. Part A goes on the flying base. Part B get attached to the underside of the model. teblin
Thanks for the replies. Seahawk, that's not too easy when the disc is flat against the table and you can't really get your nail underneath it, and if I lift it by the rod the rod slips out of the base. I think I'll try blu-tac as an alternative to Green stuff (but the glue idea sounded good too). Danke guise. Firepower
I've the same problem. That jewelry clasp idea sounds interesting. Any particular type to use? Got a pic to demonstrate? Seahawk
Oooh, that part. Just glue it in then. It's easy to store upside down, sticking the stem into the gap between foams. Unless you glued the stem to the speeder already, then it's trouble storing no matter what you do. Artemid
Yeah, I just glue the rods into the bases. Based on the foam I use for storing the speeders, the base fits in their cutouts around them perfectly!
