Random ponderings.

Greetings Brothers, got a couple of ideas I had for recruitment for my fleet-based Chapter that I wanted to check are viable.

Firstly, drawing recruits from a Shrine World- would this work?? I was reasoning they would be more pious/zealous thus helping maintain the spiritual health of the Chapter. Possible make for better Chapters too?

And finally, looking to take Psykers from more uncivilised Societies. Reasoning that they would be more raw, and thus more malleable to the Chapters needs.

Thoughts/opinions greatly appreciated.

Psykers are rare, psykers who are mentally and physically strong enough to survive marine induction are even rarer. I doubt you'd be able to guarantee enough of a supply to specifically target uncivilised societies as a source of them. (its a bit like saying you want your marines to be specialists at killing Great Unclean Ones - far too rare an occurence even to encounter one, let alone kill one, let alone do it often enough to become a specialist at doing it).

Drawing recruits from shrine worlds - potential issue with your existing marines who have not come from shrine worlds not believing that the Emperor is a God. Shrine world recruits either have to deal with this (realising/being told that the Ecclesiarchy has lied to them) or the existing marines have to be willing to change their worship structure (going form respecting the Emperor as the ultimate embodiment of mankind to having him worshipped as a God). Eitehr is possible, but both have potential serious problems.

In that case, I don't think recruiting from a shrine-world would be on their agenda, then. There's not a lot to say they wouldn't in a pinch but given the choice, I'd pick most other Imperial worlds over a shrine-world. It's just far too likely that recruits from elsewhere would be much more physically capable.

Anyhoo, I'm going to nuudge this over to the Liber, as this thread feels like it should be there than here in Amicus. smile.png
