Jsmarriner
Hey gang, So I am working on the vehicles for my BA successor chapter (to be named later). I remembered once seeing an interesting type of camo pattern used back in WWI called Dazzle. It was mainly used on Naval ships but I thought I could addapt it to 40K tanks and such. I primed the models with a red GW spray primer (cant remember the exact color) and then cut varying widths ofstrips of masking tape and painted the unmasked parts a nice flat black. Once dried I removed the tape and I liked the results. Here are a Land Raider and Rhino that I have started using the Dazzle style camo. http://sphotos-b.xx.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ash3/558033_618021984881293_1823817755_n.jpg http://sphotos-b.xx.fbcdn.net/hphotos-prn1/535550_618022091547949_1499963605_n.jpg Those were the first two pictures I took of them. I posted these pictures on the Blood Angels forum to get some initial feed back. When they assured me that it wasnt a horrible idea, I figured I would start annotating my progress on these two. Sooo on that note, I worked on the Rhino a bit last night. It was much harder than I anticipated doing highlights since on the same edge I had to switch from grey (highlighting the black) to orange (for the red). It was a nice lesson in patience. To break up the time on the edges, I decided to put some artwork on the top hatch of the Rhino and it actually came out halfway decent. It isnt White Dwarf quality but I think it will get some admiring looks at the local gaming store. Here is the Top of the Rhino and some of the highlighting. http://sphotos-a.xx.fbcdn.net/hphotos-snc6/267834_618749438141881_1271534888_n.jpg http://sphotos-b.xx.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ash3/528042_618749488141876_740787467_n.jpg I know the pictures are not great, it was done with my cell phone camera and only normal lighting. A flash made it look like crap.
Chronotonic
actually I was a bit concerned about the paint scheme until I saw the top of the rhino... the other colors used for the lights and other stuff plus the roof skull really helps the paint job work
