montegue
Greetings, I'm a bit confused. Our Codex says our transport capacity in a Drop Pod is ten, but I'm told it's 12 for Space Marines. I commonly see army lists that seem to stick models in a drop pod under the umbrella of a 12 model limit, but I can't actually find out the true answer to the question I have. Do we need to take the smaller capacity drop pod, or do we have access to the Space Marine 12-model count drop pod. Or, did I just blatantly miss something in an FAQ someplace and am I just wasting folks time? TheLastHuzzah
We only get 10 Wolves per pod, need to save room for the mead. C:SM was one of the first to come out in 5th edition and those armies do have 12 spots in a droppod. Considering that the actual drop pod model only has 10 harnesses, I would hazard a guess that the next C:SM will be dropped down to 10 spots as well. Cheers! Chronotonic
yes that is one of the perks for normal SM codex units... 12 to a drop pod 12 to a land raider 16 to the crusader 400 to the Battle Barge... DAMN YOU SMURFS AND YOUR ABILITY TO LOGICALLY ALLOW MORE MEN TO USE A VEHICLE THEN OTHER CHAPTERS OF THE ASTARTES... I would hazard to guess that they like to sit on each others laps on the way down.. hahaha That is a good observation though. Ten harnesses in the drop pod. I wish we could fit 12 in ours. 10 Hunters and a TDAWG. Yikes! Pors
Perhaps standard members of the squad sit, while the sargeant/other squad leaders stand? Also, with as strong as a space marine is would he suffer while having a fellow sit on his lap while on the way down? Squark
I've heard second hand that the design team for C:SM considers 12 people in a drop pod a design mistake in hindsight. No specifics, though. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/271623-cub-question/#findComment-3309993 Share on other sites

SamWasKing
I heard that it was a mistake made in C:SM and that in the next edition it will be 10 like the rest. Grey Mage
Thats the official GW statement on the matter, though I think it more likely they found it unbalancing for SWs, otherwise theyd have errata'd it.
