You apply that number to the total of the dice roll(s) that you make for a test that concerns that particular stat. Unless I'm much mistaken.

Hmm... Can't be, as the core mechanic si to roll a d100 equal to or lower than the skill stat. (Hitting a target with a ranged attack you need to roll equal or lower than your BS stat.)
Hope someone could clearify this how to apply bonuses... ^^'

Damn, this is gonna be my first honestly useful post in the new board...

First of all, don't mind the characteristics bonuses too much for now. The ones you really need to care about are Strength and Toughness as they'll be the ones you'll apply to 1) boost your -melee damage-, 2) mitigate the damage inflicted upon you. Whenever you need to use the characteristic bonuses, the rules will prompt you. As you guessed correctly, that's the tens digit in your -characteristics-. Also, having an unnatural characteristics trait doubles that bonus. All marines start with Unnatural Strength and Unnatural Toughness. So say you have 40 strength. Your strength bonus will be 4x2= 8.

Whenever you take a -skill test-, you roll against your -characteristic score-, not the bonus. Basic skills can be rolled against without having trained in the skill, at a characteristic/2 penalty. So say you want to roll dodge, but you haven't bought the dodge skill. You have 50 agility, but to actually dodge you need to roll a 1d100 under 25. Serves you right for being a ballerina!

Oh, and download the errata from the FFG web site. Believe me, you'll want it as a GM for the sake of balance.

Depends on the mission the kill-team is on. Maybe they're supposed to root out and kill a genestealer cult, then every fight with that cult essentially becomes an attempt to wipe out the enemy and let none escape. Maybe the fight they've gotten into isn't important but it's preventing the team from getting somewhere and they need to do it fast (like escape an exploding ship) - in this case wiping out the enemy isn't the objective; safely exfiltrating is. Any kills are a bonus in that scenario.

Allrighty... I just have to find a Swedish retailer then...

EDIT: Found a retailer, but still thinking if it's worth the money to spend on a REFERENCE sheet... :tongue.:

It is not just a reference sheet! It is the curtain that keeps your players blindsided to your every plot! it is the mask of Fate with which you arbitrate the roll of the dice! It is the screen that keeps those pesky metagamers from taking a peek at your notes!

Oh, and it comes with a booklet with extra goodies.

I have the gm screens for DH and RT. Both come with an adventure and extra rules. You could generate toxins, aliens, or an starship for npc's. I don't have the DW screen. Though I bet it's the same for the DW screen. So yeah I'd say their worth it. It should save you time from having to thumb thru your book all the time. Hope this helps.

Do you mean "games" in terms of missions/scenarios, or "games" in terms of a group of players that you can join with?

If you mean the former, try the Deathwatch Products page at Fantasy Flights Games' website (you'll need to register a free account to see the page, I think). A variety of free downloadable adventures are available.

If you mean the latter, try your local game store.

Hello Eric,

I've been a Deathwatch fan for some time.  As far as the bonuses on stat lines, the tens is the bonus.  So, TB would be a 5 if one's Toughness stat is at 50.  Space Marines get a TBx2 from Unnatural Toughness, so for a SM the 5 is considered a 10 when one's modified TB is used.  Felling (x) lowers the TBx(Y) multiplier by one per level of Felling; this trait is mostly on weapons, either Melee or Ranged.

As far as rolls go; Dodge is Agi modified by the skill.  Agi 40 + Dodge plus 10 means one rolls at effectively Agi 50 on the test; one's Agi is still 40 however.

Untrained skills are either base stat minus 20 ([stat] - 20), or half the stat being tested, rounded per the Core Book's notes on rolls section.

The DW GM Screen should greatly aid you.  Orks and other such foes are in the book Mark of the Xenos.

If you wish it, and it might be worth the price once you get more money, Honour the Chapter, First Founding and Rites of Battle are all solid books with great information to help round out what Space Marine Chapters may join your Deathwatch Campaigns.
