Cmdr Shepard
Can you list the bitz you used and from which kits do they come from? It's an interesting project... Naminé
I think they look pretty close tbh... i can't help but feel they are missing the cloth elements however. Cool models so far! :) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/271718-kitbashed-sisters-of-battle/#findComment-3311624 Share on other sites
*Furyou Miko
> The heavy bolter sister still has pointy ear. I have to be honest. They still look like Dark Eldar to me. Hanska
Nice looking start. They need at minimum loin cloths and sleeves. Maybe spend some time doing more 'blingy' shoulder pads -> make a press mold and duplicate for fast, easy and good looking pads. You can also use press molding to do back packs from a sculpted master. All the better if you have the resources to do silicone molds and cast in resin. Token
To bad you dont like all that much, but guess i could try adding cloth, i have some small gs skills, but dont know how to make realistic looking clothing, some tutorial somewhere perhaps? Edit: How do you make the greenstuff to not be so flat? and keep finger marks off it? Should you let it dry abit before applying it to the mini? Edit2: The bodies are dark eldar, weapons marine, heads is from a Polish company i think it was, basicks. Testing diffirent backpacks, gona try a marine one with parts cut off. *Furyou Miko
No, never let it dry. heh. Wet your fingers with a little water before smoothing it down. Also, when doing cloth, instead of trying to make the whole piece in one go, try using strips of green stuff in roughly the right shape then blend them together using your fingernails or a damp sculpting tool. Fredegar Kadere
Overall it looks to be a stellar conversion setup, but it lacks the Sororitas feel. Sleeves and skirt are a minor thing, but more importantly it lacks the iconography of the Sisters and Church. Add the fluer-de-lys to one shoulder pauldron and one knee. Add the Ecclesiarchy 'I' to the hip, throat/upper breastplate, or other shoulder pauldron. Do that and they are golden. If you make a press mold of each you can churn them out to apply to each figure in a fast manner. Maxmini makes some Gothic Backpacks for 28mm figures. A cheaper, but more complex, solution is to take a space marine backpack and cut off the last 1mm of the bottom, the two bottom side vents on each side, and possibly shorten how much each upper round vent extends from the backpack. You did mention Valkyries, which from recollection is a fan-made Fenris/Space Wolves all female fighting order, if that is the case continue to replace Church stuff with Wolfie stuff! Token
I bought some of those maximini backpacks, but they are to big i think, but thanks for the tip. I have tried using cut down marine backpacks. Valkyries are actually beings from the norse reiligion/mythology Asatro/Asabelief, they are suposed to be servants of Oden and Freya who take the souls of worthy slain warriors to valhall and Freyas realm. The fluff for my valkyries would be that they acompany my imps and marines (which i have kinda a viking fluff too) and they choose which imps are worthy to become marines, also they help the souls of the dead to reach the emperor since sisters are those who have the most faith, or something like that. If you look at the sister who is pointing, you can see that she has a tooth in a necklace and wolf pelt loin cloth. I am trying to make skirt thingies for the sisters. Will try to make it in layers as Furyou Miko suggested, thanks for the tip. *Furyou Miko
You're welcome. I'll try and find time later (if I feel well enough) to post some pictures of the robed models I've put together for reference. WarriorFish
Took me a moment to recognise them as DE but it works quite well. As others have mentioned what they really need is more obviously Sisters bits, robes being the most prominent part naturally. Some of the iconography could be done using transfers if you're not up for all the GS required, the filed down shoulder pads should provide ample space for them. Token
Ok, thanks for the comments, been trying to improve the sisters by adding details. I tried some diffirent loin cloth, one turned out ok, but a little thick. I also added marine backpacks, but cut down. Do it work? If so, long or short exhaust pipes? Also tried some "necklaces", im not sure what those are supposed to be, but i tried with two diffirent thickness och guitarwire, i think it is. Which works best? Thin or Thick? http://i1179.photobucket.com/albums/x389/Torkor/SoB11_zps09d5efb3.jpg http://i1179.photobucket.com/albums/x389/Torkor/SoB12_zps4cdb0528.jpg http://i1179.photobucket.com/albums/x389/Torkor/SoB13_zpsd5ff3217.jpg http://i1179.photobucket.com/albums/x389/Torkor/SoB14_zpsd97733e0.jpg http://i1179.photobucket.com/albums/x389/Torkor/Sob10_zpsa009efcf.jpg Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/271718-kitbashed-sisters-of-battle/#findComment-3318403 Share on other sites
vonny
wow, that left loincloth is actually really good! those 'necklaces' are actually part of the power armour power cabling. Not sure how it works, but there you have it. And those backpacks go a huge way to making them look more imperial than xenos. When seen from the back they do appear a bit overly large, but I have no idea how to fix that, and it doesn't actually have to be a bad thing. The Imperium is known for its large and clunky equipment. Azekai
I really like these, and with the backpacks their profile looks much more terran. Keep it up! Hanska
Much sister looking with the cables and loincloth. For the back packs the short exhaust look the best. *Furyou Miko
The cables around the neck of the Sororitas power armour are part of the rebreather system for when the Sisters don't have their helmets on. They also carry the data lines for their inter-suit voxes. Those look much better now, and that leftmost cloth works really well. Knight of the Raven
These sisters look good, and you successfully made them look much more imperial. The only snag I have is that the power armors look paper thin with these eldar bodies, especially with their huge backpacks. Naminé
Looking better! It's the cloth that really adds the shape to the models. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/271718-kitbashed-sisters-of-battle/#findComment-3318786 Share on other sites
Venerable Jazzman
The old RTB01 backpacks are a lot smaller than current Marine packs, they pop up on eBay every now and then. They'd probably be a better fit with the DE bodies. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v110/fatjazzer/rtb01bp2_zpsdf1789e8.jpg I like where you're going with this.
