Shiodome
Title says it all really, does anyone know of a paint already formulated for airbrushes that closely resembles caliban green (a very slight variance would be fine). I know there's things like a vallejo/GW comparison chart floating about, but i'm told it's not especially reliable and doesn't cover the vallejo air range anyway. Thanks in advance for any help. :) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/271722-airbrush-paint-equivalent-for-caliban-green/ Share on other sites
MedPig
Depends. If you want a CLOSE match, try Vallejo "Black-Green", it's a WW2 German color in the model paint line, I think. Testor's Model Master paints have an oil-based enamel version of it, too. I use it for a LOT of things, it's a very cool color. Hope that helps. DarkMark
Just use thinner with the Caliban green and you won't need a replacement! Captain_Quirk
To ask a supplementary question to the OP's (and apologies for the hijack!) - if I were to use thinner on my Caliban green can anyone give advice on best ways of getting the paint from the pot to the jar without making a godawful mess? I've tried a dropper which didn't really work. How do you measure it all out? It also seems like I'd have to use rather a large amount of Caliban green to do even a couple of models? Lorenzen
if you thin your paints properly it shouldnt take much to coat quite a lot of models well.. why didnt the dropper work? was the paint too thick in the pot already? if so why not add some thinner to it... i mean if you're going to be airbrushing with it anyway.. essentially the best answer is "caliban green with thinner added" Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/271722-airbrush-paint-equivalent-for-caliban-green/#findComment-3318624 Share on other sites
Captain_Quirk
Thanks Lorenzen. The dropper just caused the paint to stick to the inside of the dropper -_- however I think maybe this time I will try sucking up the paint and then an equal amount of thinner. Hopefully they'll mix inside the dropper and give me the results that I want. I am really keen to use my airbrush to base coat my DA and CSM because doing it with a regular brush takes forever. Lorenzen
if you're still having trouble getting the mix right another option (cheap and lame as it may seem) is to keep the tops of coke bottles etc and use them to mix in (after rinsing them out!) they provide a suitable mini mixing pot for things like this.. then once you're ready suck it up via dropper and transfer it to the airbrush.
