Chronotonic
Think about it... In all honesty it was what maybe 20 main things that pushed people over that edge to hate each other or flat out turn their backs on the Emperor. Granted these Primarchs were all but gods but even gods had egos... ...Looking at you Zeus... Think about it this way what would have happened if: -The Lion instead of crashing the middle of nowhere landed outside a powerful Knights Order and the Grand Master took him in and trained him in their ways or war. Instead of the Lion living by himself for god knows how long he is raised in a supportive area where is learns to interact with normal humans and can understand how they think. He goes out one day for The Hunt runs across the Lion he ends up killing and Luther and his men...They know each other only by reputation and join forces to take out the Lion....BLAMO Brothers from the word go and still cleanse the planet of other creatures but now Jonson has his own Knightly order to join him and begin even larger then before and thus few men are lost. The Planet is cleansed quicker and The Lion has a better understanding of how humans work and is a better Primarch for it. Because of this he understands Luthers place is beside him and has men he knows would relish the chance to train the next wave of Marines... -Angron fighting back in the pits like he did...raises his army from the other Gladiators and does the basic I am AWESOME THEME SONG HERE... But unfortantly he is put in the same position he was before hand were in the morning they are all going to die...The Emperor not wanting his lost son to die the day after meeting him teleports him to the Ship...Angron looks right at the Emperor and says I will die with my men or live with them in victory...The Emperor only nods and sends him back to the planet along side the 8th Company of War Hounds lead by none other then Khârn...(heck of a guy by the way)... They win the day cleanse the planet of the rulling caste and Angron bows without hesitation at the man who calls himself his father knowing that their warrior spirit is the same...That one incident I think is the starting point for Angron and his anger at the Emperor...if things had gone this way Khârn would have been right there from the word go and Angron would have had his brother Gladiators turned into Astartes if possible. With that he would not have disobayed the Emperor about the Crazy chips as he would have listened to him about the downfall of the chips and his men would have been better for it...still a bit crazy I mean look at their Primarch but a bit less crazy...Kinda like the wolves... -Lorgar....Ahhh Lorgar the most religious of them all...needless to say instead of the Emperor coming down on him hard about not being a God they have an extremely lengthy discussion about their own powers and abilities and Lorgar slowly understands that while the Emperor is not a god and while his power is great...he is just a man who is trying his best to reclaim man and unite them under one banner and drive back the enemy that is not man. When he returns to his world Kor Phaeron was there with his council of advise to try and turn Lorgar to the Chaos Gods...Within moments Lorgar relizes what is going on and kills Kor Phaeron with his bare hands and brings is Erebus to help him understand what had happened Erebus sees the remains of Kor Phaeron and in a rage attacks his Primarch who in turns his Erebus as well...Lorgar soon relizes that his Legion is infected by these lies and spends the next few weeks cleansing his Legion of those who had turned from the Emperor. His remaining Legion is now loyal only to him and the Emperor and being a campaign of reclamation of fallen systems. He goes before Gulliman to learn tactics of war better as well as from Horus and Jonson. Soon becoming one of the best Strategic Generals in the Imperium. -The Night Haunter...Konrad Curze...similar to what happened to Jonson left in the wild having to learn on his own with no moral guidence. No more because of this he cares not for what happens to humans...Well in this turn of events. One of the few uncorrupted Cops in the world (Think Jim Gordan *Batman* but for Nostramo) on a case comes across a child Curze. Who in his haste to escape almost kills this cop but is stopped by tazer fire. Realizing he was only a child brings him into his home to teach him about Law and Order. Within months of Hand to Hand training (Because Jim Gordan was special forces...bet you didn't know that did ya) and what the Law was suppose to be Curze joins the Police force and quickly takes charge of a squad...then a state...then so on and so forth with his Adopted father always willing to help however he can. Instead of Fear he uses the Law...When the Emperor arrives instead of a corrupt cese pool he finds a planet who is almost as crime free as one of Guillimans. He Legion becomes almost the US Marshall of the Galaxy. They know they cannot stop all crime by themselves so they Create the Adeptus Arbites who become the law for each planet. (got to make them a Legion of wanna-be batmen somehow haha) Curze comes to the Emperor about his fatalistic visions early in his expansion of the Imperium. The Emperor explains that while there is a good chance for those to come to light and happen that does not mean they have to happen... -During the word fight between Dorn and Perturabo right before Dorn in his righteous ways The Emperor steps in and explains that while Perturabo was one of the greatest Siege Specialist...Dorn was one of the best Defensive specialist in the Emperors army, and that they should learn from each other...Dorn raises an eyebrow at the idea and nods at his brother who nods as well and throughout the night they play ideas off each other about how he would attack this structure or how the other would fend off the attack from this point... They leave each other as equals in their minds becoming the most loyal of brothers to each other...The Hammer and Anvil if you will... Seeing that Curze has created the Arbites Perturabos own homeworld never has the uprising as the Arbites quickly put down unrest and save Perturabo from having to conquer his own world. Because of his conversation with Dorn they both start garrison planets throughout the Imperium those cross garrisoned worlds of both Imperial Fist and Iron Warriors become like brothers to each other and few garrisoned planets ever have a problem with holding out against an outside or internal force until assitance arrives. -Mortarion one of the few Primarchs who I feel like never really hated the Emperor until the Heresy were lies were pilled on lies until the truth was a lie and a lie was the truth...Instead of the Emperor trying to have Mortarion defeat the Adopted Warlord Father guy alone...The Emperor gives him a 'special machine he worked on endlessly' that allows him to breathe even in vacuum... This allows Mortarion to defeat the Last Warlord alone upon his return he willingly bends the knee to who now shows himself as his real father and takes command of the Dusk Raiders Legion. The Emperor then takes him aside and explains how thing are in the Galaxy and why he does what he does to reunite the lost colonies of man...Mortarion sees him at first as just another warlord who hungers for power but a conversation between those two over the next week dispels any thought of the Emperor as just another power hungry warlord but a man who is trying to save mankind for those who would see it destroyed.... -Fulgrim...That Damned Deamon sword on Laer. The Cleansing of Laeron takes place as before...I see no reason to change this...But during the temple scene before he does anything he turns to his men and says "Burn it all..." as he has lost more men they he realized and many more were wounded and would need bionic replacements. He turns away as he watches it burn and begins to understand that perfection is not always the most beautiful but sometimes the most honorable. The Deamon sword is lost within the flames and BLAMO no deamon influence for Fulgrim... -Alpharius and Omegon...Still the most secretive Legion there wont be any changing that....because I mean that is who they are...Gulliman is their only reason I see that they are not happy with the Imperium... During this incident where the words were flying Gulliman points at his record to boast but stops...he realizes that he has had over an extra century of warfare to his legions name on top of being the largest legion he would be able to expand quicker then many other legions...Alpharius looks at Gulliman and says something along the lines of "Our ways are our ways...we fight for the Emperor in body and soul...a list of wins means nothing during the final days"... Gulliman is humbled by those words and brings up his Astartes Codex and shows Alpharius his way at war to become a mentor to his younger brother. Alpharius realizes that for all of Gullimans bluster he was one of the most loyal to their father and took Gullimans advice and adapted it to his own legions fighting techniques. This allows Alpharius to become closer with just more then Horus from his dealings with Gulliman and his legion he was able to reach other to other brothers and learn from them making his own legion better then it was before hand. -Magnus...Primarch of the 1000 sons...When he first meets his sons and the lack of men and the flesh change happening to those that survived...he called upon his father and all the men he could to help change the outcome...It took decades but they finally stabilized his gene-seed and out of those 1000...100 survived and became the core upon where Magnus rebuilt his Legion. With his limited numbers Magnus rebuilt his legion on his adopted homeworld and joined with Horus just like Fulgrim did making them some of the closest brothers. From Horus he learned tact and boundaries of warfare... Allowing him to become more level headed General. Thus no agreement with Tzeentch and he keeps both eyes... However his Legion is still a Legion of Psykers and the Emperor still calls the Council of Nikaea. The Difference is Horus has his brothers back and the ear of the Emperor showing what those Pskyers who are trained properly can do to help the Imperium at Large... The Emperor nods and agrees but he understands the endgame better then most and puts more handicaps upon the Legions Psykers making them train harder then before to master their most basic techniques...A few Primarchs are not happy about this but the Council is not disbanded until all have been heard and all understand that it is for the best. Those that do not agree towards the end of the Council are allowed to add their two cents for what must be done to Psykers if they are allowed to remains in the Legions and other places. Magnus agrees with all put before him and from his Legion creates the Grey Knights who would be soul bound to the Emperor and would actively scour the galaxy in search of Psykers who would not submit to proper training at the hands of the Imperium. This leaves Horus... Horus upon being elevated to Warmaster takes his role seriously...he failures hit him harder then before. His brother Primarchs see this and a few come to him for support and understanding. The Lion comes to him last and says that he feels that he would have made a better Warmaster. Horus looks at the Lion with Venom but the Lion continues and says something like "but the fact of the matter is after everything is said and done you are truely the Emperors best son...we your brothers are part of who he is to a degree, but you embody him totally. And that is why you are Warmaster...and I...a Primarch of the 1st Legion." Horus realizes that Jonson is correct and that while he is Warmaster he is simply one person and that people do make mistakes. He nods of course at Jonson and his wisdom and goes out from that meeting with a clear head. --------------------------------------------------------------- The only outcome I see coming from this is after the Imperium is created what happens to all those astartes who have spent centuries of constant warfare...do they put up their bolters and power armour and find desk jobs... what do they do... Wade Garrett
Without an alliance with the True Pantheon mankind is devoured by Tyranids, subjugated by Necrons, messily butchered by Orkz, and the survivors become pawns/slaves of the Eldar and the Dark Eldar. Wade Garrett
Food for thought: The Emperor's endgame is the survival of humanity, and he plays a looooong game. Which means contingencies and back up plans for the contingencies and back up plans. Could he have engineered the Heresy and the symbiotic relationship of the Traitors and the Dark Gods so that even if his Imperium did fall apart, a fragment of the human race would live on, warded by the Ruinous Powers themselves? facmanpob
My alternate reality: Sejanus doesn't die on 63-19, and Loken never gets elevated to the Mournival. Seeing Erebus for what he truly is, Sejanus talks Horus into bitch-slapping Erebus into line, only to find out that the Word Bearers have gone nuts. Davin never happens, as Horus hot foots it back to Terra instead to tell Dad. Being Warmaster, he is actually allowed access to the big E and finds out the big plan for the webway. Horus gets permission to cull the Word Bearers and Russ is sent to do that job rather than against the 1000 Sons, and the heresy never happens because Horus spills the beans about the webway and the rest of the Primarchs think its a great idea and wonder why they weren't told about it all along! .....Only it all goes horribly wrong when Caliban randomly disappears and the Warmaster wants to know why!
